Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 217

"Oh really? "I glare at her.

"Really," she breathes out.

Then it happens. Luca comes back with a cup. He tries to get some kool-aid again, but Megan snatches the pitcher away.

He looks surprised. "I got a cup?" He shows her.

"Now get some lemonade," she says. "And leave Ethel's kool-aid alone."

"Well it's not really mine," Ethel starts.

But that's the end of Luca's patience. He wants some kool-aid, dammit. He glares at her, trying to get the drink. She keeps it just out of his reach, but knowing what I do, I know he can change that at any moment. I'm worried. Onai looks worried too. Axel and Ethel are prepared to make a move. Where's Michael?

Luca's about to jump my sister for a sugary beverage, but she gives him a stern look. "You can't have anything out of this container, young man. It's not yours." She crosses her arms.

Those words put Luca at ease for some reason. He allows her to have the container, but then he drinks straight out of her cup instead.

The room freezes. Her eyes fly open. "Are you crazy?" she screams. "I just told you not to drink from there!"

"But you said..." He holds the liquid in his cheeks, looking like a startled chipmunk.

"That's mine," she says. "You can't have it!"

He frowns. "Fine! I'm sorry." He deposits the liquid back into the cup, from his mouth. Then he hands it back to her with disappointed eyes. "You can have it."

Megan looks like she's gonna barf.

Luca looks even more confused. He looks to Onai for help, but Onai doesn't knows where to begin.m Neither do I. I expect Megan to scream again, but she actually pulls herself together at the last second. She hesitates then pats the table. "Just... put it here, Luca. Thank you."

He does as told, looking relieved. He waits for her to pick it up, and maybe even drink it, but she waves him off. "I'm gonna..." She gags. "Put it back into the fridge soon to let it cool. Go get some for yourself." She pushes the pitcher towards him.

He takes the whole thing and leaves with his other cup.

She gives me a 'what the heck is wrong with him?' look, but I shove her. I look at Onai, hoping he didn't see that, but he has the same expression. He looks disgusted. I shove him a little too. "Stop it. Both of you."

"What's going on in here?" Michael asks. He's got a statistics book in one arm, a bag full of legos in the other, and he doesn't look like he's moved from his desk in hours. He tries to scratch his armpit with any part of his free arm.

He's got that exam look in his eyes. The 'I might die before the week is over' bloodshot stare. Charlie follows close behind, reaching for the bag of legos. Michael shakes it like he's tempting an unruly dog. "See the legos, Charlie? Get 'em." He almost throws it.

I pull the bag away from him. "What are you doing to our brother?"

Michael doesn't listen to a word I say, staring at his stats book like it's his lifeline.

I'm gonna strangle him.

When he sees the look in my eyes, he shields himself. "Not the notes." He pulls the book away. "Hit me. Just watch the book!"

I put my drink down, picking up Charlie. I give him a sad look, reminding myself for the millionth time that Michael can't be trusted to watch my siblings. "What did he do to you, Charmander?" I ask.
