"Carson," I say again.

He looks at me. "Yes?"

I have to look up, even with both of us sitting down, to look into his eyes. "I said I need a minute."

"I know." He nods. "I'm being quiet."

"I need some space too."

"Space?" He looks taken aback. He looks at the non-existent space between us thanks to how close he sat beside me. He scoots farther on the couch. "Is this good?"

I shake my head.

He frowns. He gets up and moves to the chair beside the table. "This much?"

I shake my head. I gesture towards the hall.

His face falls. He slowly gets up, treading towards the hall, standing in the archway. I expect him to turn the corner, but he just stands there, looking at me.

I point at the hall again. He makes a noise that sounds like I just kicked a puppy. He doesn't actually move. He just takes a step to the left so that only half of him is visible, peeking around the wall. He looks miserable.

I can't do this. "Carson-"

"Do you really not wanna be luna anymore?" he asks.

"... I do," I say, reluctantly. But what I want isn't really the point right now.

"Do you really think we'd just lie to you for no reason? Whether it's a bad reason or not?" he asks.

If I'm being honest... I shake my head.

He looks even more dejected. "Then why do you need so much space?"

Does he realizes he's only two yards away from me?

I stare at my so-called alpha boyfriend, currently falling apart in the archeway. "I'm just upset," I say.

"Then I should hold you," he says. "Until you're not angry anymore."

"It doesn't work like that," I say.

He gives me a look, 'Wanna bet?'

I look away. I'm not in the mood, but I gesture towards the couch beside me. He wastes no time jumping onto it, laying out so that his head is resting on my lap. He holds me closer, nuzzling into my side. He mumbles something I can't hear, but my cheeks burn all the same. I don't wanna be flustered. I'm pissed off.

Then I see Onai at the archway.

I raise an eyebrow. He nudges (read: shoves) the person next to him, and Axel appears. Reluctant. Heartbroken. Desolate.
