Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 52

I shake my head again. "Any one of you could be the alpha. You've all shown your dominance and your ability to command. I'm just asking because I know a pack has an alpha and a beta, and maybe a third in command. And I know the mate... I mean, imprint of the alpha is the luna. I was wondering if there were expectations for me if the luna is what I am."

They look at each other again and then Aiden speaks. "You're nearly right. A pack does have an alpha and a beta, normally. Our pack, on the other hand, has three."

"Three alphas?" I ask.

They nod.

"You three?" I ask.

They nod again.

"And you share one beta?"

"No, we each picked our own," Axel says. "Would you like to meet them?"

Aiden glares at him. "Is this really the time?"

"We might as well just get it done all at once," Axel shrugs. He looks at me and grins. "This is the fun part of the werewolf stuff. You've already met them all, but a formal introduction wouldn't hurt."

I cut him off. "But you never said what your expectations were of me-"

He shakes his head. "We'll worry about that later, Luna."

My heart skips a little at his usage of the term. It's the way he says it, like he's been waiting to say it his entire life.

He walks beside me, slowly. "You should just get used to the idea of werewolves for now, right? I don't want to scare you off from this godforsaken place," he chuckles.

I roll my eyes, but nod.

Brittany and bathroom boy walk through the gym doors and towards us. Then the Asian guy from science class, mine and Aiden's lab partner, walks towards us from the hallway.

"These are the betas." Aiden says flatly. Then he tries to walk back into the gym.

"Oh, would you stop being such a stick in the mud," Brittany grumbles, yanking him back towards us.

Aiden narrows his eyes, pulling his arm from her. She narrows hers right back.

Aiden looks at Carson. Carson mutters, "Bri."

She gives Carson a death glare. He looks away, shrugging at Aiden.

Axel sighs. "Can we look like we have it together for two seconds?"

Bathroom boy nods before getting death glares from all three.

Lab boy just looks unenthused.

Judging from the order of things, even though Brittany and Aiden seem to argue like siblings, I think it's clear who his beta is. "So you're Aiden's beta?" I ask lab boy.

He raises an eyebrow.

I look at bathroom boy. I remember how Carson threw that basketball at his head when he was staring at me. Plus he's pretty athletic like Carson. "And you're Carson's beta."

That leaves Brittany. "And you're... Axel's beta?" I shake my head. "No, that can't be right."
