"You know what I think?" Aiden finally asks, but it comes out as more of a statement.
And I don't know what's about to fall out of his mouth. I'm prepared for anything, except what he finally does say.
"I don't think Mia told you anything." Aiden narrows his eyes at Michael and the hallway falls silent. "Because she's not dating any of us."
Michael doesn't say anything. He just watches Aiden the way Aiden's watching him.
Aiden takes a step forward, calmly, calculating his every move and Michael's. He's got the edge back that he temporarily lost. He's in control again. "I think you're trying to get an answer out of us that doesn't exist. You're just wrong, so drop it." He turns to his brothers and spares me a glance. "Come on. We still have actual priorities to attend to."
Carson and Axel exchange a glance. "Damn he's good."
Michael doesn't seem to agree. He walks right up to Aiden's retreating figure before I get the chance to grab him. I watch in horror as he says, "You better make me a priority, because I have power over you. And I'll use it."
My eyes fly open. Oh no.
The hallway falls dead silent.
Then it erupts into a fit of ear-splitting laughter.
One of Michael's friends smacks her forehead and says, "Omg, you're gonna die."
People start quite literally falling apart in the hallways. The brothers are no exception. Axel just looks confused. He's not outright laughing, he's too nice for that, but he does look... quizzical.
Carson on the other hand is slapping his knee, laughing his ass off. "What?" He keeps repeating that one word looking around the hallway for some kind of explanation.
Aiden just scoffs.
I have to stop this. I have to put Michael out of his misery. Even if he's being a fool, he's my brother and he's doing this because he thinks he needs to protect me. I walk up to him and put my hand on his shoulder. "Michael, please. Stop. Go with your friends, they're right. I don't know what you're trying to do."
One of his friends says, "Damn that's cold. Shot down by the person he's trying to save." Gee, thanks dude.
Drew just rubs his back sadly, the side I'm not currently occupying, and tries to pull him away. "Come on man. Nothing Morph can't fix."
