Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 82

I nod, then I remember what he wants. "You can."

He rests his head in the crook of my neck. I close my eyes as I feel his rhythmic breathing. After awhile I start to smell him too. I don't know what I'm smelling exactly, but it's just all male. Calming. Not overwhelming.

"Can I kiss you?"

What did he just say? What did my innocent Axel just ask for? You give this boy an inch and he turns it into a mile! What's he gonna ask for next? But I don't tell him no. I can't, and he doesn't wait this time for any verbal confirmation.

He tilts my head towards him and looks into my eyes. He looks like he wants to say something but he just leans down.

I close my eyes.

I feel a quick peck on my cheek and nothing else. I look up at him and raise an eyebrow. He smiles in that way only he can. I feel silly for expecting more. "Onai's here," he says. Then he takes a step away from me.

Sure enough the tall, brooding, chem guy makes himself known. He meets us on the sidewalk. "Sorry to interrupt."

"You're not," Aiden looks at him. "Just the children's place and... Well you know."

"I do." Onai looks at me. "Come on."

I give Axel a hesitant look. He pats my shoulder. "You'll be fine."

Onai just stands there. I slowly walk towards him. I really wish I could just go with my actual friends, but I don't want to disappoint Axel. How bad could it be?

"Oh yeah, Mia," Axel calls out to me.

"Yeah?" I look into his eyes.

"You're beautiful."

Carson's POV

"Hey," I say close to his head, quietly.

He doesn't respond.

What can I say? I tried. I grab his shoulders and shake him violently. "Hey, Aiden."

He jerks awake. He looks at me crazily, hair falling over his face. His eyes dart from the left to the right before settling on me. Then they narrow. "What the hell do you want, Carson?"
