Natasha felt that she should thank Nicole sometimes. If not for Nicole's constant harassment over the years, Natasha would not have developed such a mature and strong mind.
She smiled bitterly and replied, "If I don't show up, you're going to become the scapegoat instead."
Zachary just so happened to overhear her words. "What do you mean by scapegoat? What happened?"
Xavier crossed his arms and said, "Why not tell your uncle-in-law about it?"
Natasha glared at Xavier and replied, "What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with Mr. Foster. There's no need to take it out on him."
Zachary was slightly unnerved by how formal Natasha was when talking to him. "Can't you try trusting me a little more, Ms. Bradley?"
Natasha found his words rather baffling, especially when he just appeared out of nowhere. "What do you mean, Mr. Foster? I've never said that I don't trust you."
Xavier replied, "It's not his fault, but it still reflects badly on the Foster family as a whole. Since when were you this patient, Natasha?"
He ruffled his hair in frustration and headed back to the lab, not knowing what else to say.
Zachary explained anxiously, "The lab belongs to Foster Group. So if anything happens, you can definitely tell me about it."
His explanation only left Natasha even more confused.
"Mr. Foster, I'm supposed to report to my direct superior when it comes to matters relating to my job. Reporting directly to the top is a major taboo in the workplace!" Natasha replied.
She gave him a distant smile as she got into the car, leaving Zachary standing by himself at a complete loss.
He wondered why she had been deliberately keeping her distance from him. He had thought that he had managed to get closer to her one step at a time.
Julian chimed in at this moment with an analysis nobody asked for. "Please don't be discouraged, Mr. Foster. Maybe Ms. Bradley doesn't want to deal with anyone from your family right now because of Mr. Matthew. That's perfectly understandable."
If Natasha still cared about the matter that much, it would mean that she still cared about Matthew.
