Xavier refrained from asking anything, afraid he might say the wrong thing. Following the doctor's advice, he quietly stayed by Natasha's side.
By the next day, Zachary had recovered enough to walk on his own. He went alone to stand outside Natasha's door.
However, each time Natasha looked up, she would only glance at him briefly and show no reaction at all.
"How long is she going to stay like this?" Zachary asked Julian, but even the doctors hadn't given a clear answer.
Xavier stayed by her side the entire time, leaving Zachary without any opportunity to approach her.
"The ferry is scheduled to return today as planned, but you'll need to stay a few more days to rest," Xavier said casually.
Natasha only nodded slightly in response.
By noon, Zachary finally saw an opportunity. Since their rooms were both on the first floor, he took advantage of the moment Xavier left to get their meals and quietly entered her room.
Natasha stared at him in surprise. A memory suddenly surfaced in her mind, and her cheeks flushed red.
Even after all those years with Matthew, their intimacy had never gone beyond holding hands and the occasional hug. So that had been her first kiss.
"Are you really unable to talk?" Zachary asked curiously.
Natasha just tilted her head and looked at him with a puzzled expression.
Before Zachary could say another word, Xavier returned. "Oh, I almost forgot. Here, take your medicine."
