Chapter 111 

Joycelyn left the hospital and took a taxi home. 

The first thing she did when she got home was head upstairs to shower and wash her hair. It was as if she was washing herself clean and starting life over again. 

Or perhaps, she wanted to wash away the burden on her shoulders and make herself feel more relaxed. 

After taking a shower, she went downstairs to feed Rocky. Then, she held Rocky in her arms and fell asleep on the sofa. 

Her petite figure lay on the classical–style sofa. 

In the cold and luxurious space, she was dressed in white loungewear, giving off a sense of aloofness that was detached from worldly concerns. 

She hadn’t spoken much since she got home. The puppy seemed to sense that she was feeling down, so it kept staying by her side quietly. 

She slept from the afternoon into the evening. 

It was not until Joycelyn sensed the puppy in her arms repeatedly nudging her chest and feeling very uneasy that she woke

She slowly opened her eyes. In the huge villa, the ambient lights lit up one after another, adding a hint of tenderness to the cold space. 

Holding Rocky, who was so terrified that it curled up in her arms, Joycelyn slowly sat up and instinctively glanced toward the foyer where she heard a noise. 

Ellison’s tall and straight figure came into view. In that instant, an indifferent smile that was imperceptible appeared on Joycelyn’s face. “You’re back,” she said. 

Her voice was still languid and childlike from just waking up. 

She sat on the sofa, holding the puppy in her arms, craning her neck to look at him gently, and waiting for him to approach. 

“Yeah.” Ellison put on his shoes, grabbing his suit jacket with one hand as he walked over. 

His slender figure was like a model’s, and his well–proportioned muscles were faintly visible under his shirt. His blonde hair gently brushed his forehead, and his eyes gleamed with a deep and calm glint that commanded respect. 

But Joycelyn could feel that when he looked at her, his gaze was softer. 

Her smile grew sweeter as she waited patiently for him to approach. Tve been waiting for you for a long time.” 

“Huh?” Ellison casually draped his suit jacket over the sofa and sat beside Joycelyn. 

“You didn’t go hang out in the afternoon?” he asked. As he sat down, his cold and reserved look was tinged with a hint of tenderness. He narrowed his eyes and saw the puppy hiding its head in Joycelyn’s arms. 

As soon as he finished speaking, he grabbed the puppy by the scruff of its neck and tossed it onto the carpet. 

Rocky let out a whine. Knowing that it could not compete against Ellison, it jumped away like a rabbit and hid on the single- seater sofa nearby, his round eyes peeking out as he stared at Ellison.

Chapter 111 

It was angry, but still cute and timid at the same time. 

Joycelyn could not help but laugh. Then, she mustered her courage and reached out to wrap her arms around Ellison’s waist, leaning into his embrace. 

“Since you’ve already touched the dog, you probably won’t mind me hugging it,” she said, leaning in his arms and sniffing the refreshing and pleasant mint scent on him. 

She felt a great sense of peace and security. 

There was a slight sense of surprise in Ellison’s eyes, and he could not help but smile. 

He put his arms around his wife, who voluntarily hugged him, and said, “What’s wrong?” 

“It’s nothing. I just want to hug you.” Joycelyn buried her face in the hollow of his neck, looking as obedient as a kitten. 

“The results of the investigation are out. Linda has been sent for investigation and has already been dismissed. Aurelia will be promoted, and you will be the leader of Planning Team 1. 

“Till go along with what you say.” Joycelyn didn’t ask further. This outcome was expected. 

After all, she had exerted great effort to turn the tide, preventing the company from losing a major project, so this promotion was only natural. 

Seeing that she was still feeling down, Ellison pinched her cheek, looking at her seriously as he said, “Something on your mind?” 

“Nothing on my mind.” 

“The basic trust between husband and wife is gone, huh?” Ellison pinched her soft and flawless cheek. 

He thought, That look in her eyes is filled with distress, and yet she tells me there’s nothing on her mind. I don’t believe it.” 

“Really, there’s nothing. I just went to the hospital to see my mom, and I realized some things will never get better. I’m just troubled about how to deal with this kind of blood relationship.” 

“Didn’t you hire someone to take care of her?” 

“I thought that since she had surgery. I should go visit. It won’t happen again.” Joycelyn swore that it really wouldn’t happen again. 

She thought for a moment. They had been married for so long, and she was worried about various things, so much so that she had never gone out on a date with him or had a meal together outside. So, she said, “Have you had dinner? Why don’t we go on a date tonight?” 

Having lived in a negative environment for so long, she had forgotten that she had to live openly and confidently. 

Joycelyn had thought about how her relationship with Ellison would pan out. Regardless of what the outcome was for them in the future, she was certain that it would never be as terrible as her experience of living at the Mercer family’s home, not matter how bad things turned out. 

She thought that the outcome would not be more painful than the stifling blood relationship between her and her mother. To Joycelyn, Ellison was nicer than anyone she had ever met. 

“Alright, change your clothes, and I’ll take you to a restaurant,” Ellison said.

Chapter 111 

“Alright. I’ll go change now. Please feed Rocky” Joycelyn immediately caressed the puppy a few times. 

As she ran upstairs, she instructed Ellison, who was left speechless. 

“Just open a can, and it’ll go eat it on its own. It is very well–behaved and doesn’t bite.” Joycelyn had already run upstairs. Her cheerful voice came from above. 

Ellison closed his eyes and mentally prepared himself before slowly getting up. 

“Come here.” He walked up to the luxurious kennel, which was piled with all kinds of pet supplies. 

Rocky still seemed to be very scared of Ellison. There was about 15 feet between it and Ellison, 

When Ellison opened the can, the puppy, who was clearly eager for food, remained sitting obediently, not daring to approach. 

Ellison ignored it and turned back to the sofa. When he passed by Rocky, both of them despised each other, actively avoiding each other and creating distance. 

That scene was somewhat comical. 

About twenty minutes later, Joycelyn came downstairs. 

Not only did she change into a more classy and sexy camisole dress, but she also applied some lip gloss. 

The fitted design accentuated Joycelyn’s curves, while the dark purple color was classy and elegant. The V–neck design highlighted her voluptuous figure, making her look even more alluring and sexy. Her long blonde hair cascaded smoothly over her shoulders, making her skin look even more delicate and smooth. 

She looked delicate and charming. 

Ellison narrowed his eyes and said, “Mrs. Grant, with you dressed like this, why don’t we just eat at home?” 

As he spoke, he walked forward, his entire aura changing.
