Joycelyn and Rocky had just fallen asleep when Ellison’s voice woke them up.

Joycelyn glanced up at him, and when she met his gaze, she immediately lowered her head, hugging the little dog in her

Joycelyn sighed, her long hair messily draped over her shoulders, making her delicate face look even more exquisite. 

Her clear eyes blinked sleepily, with a hint of pleading in them. 

Her innocent face made Ellison seem harsh by comparison. 

They stared at each other for a few seconds, one sitting and the other standing. 

Ellison, still angry, turned and left, slamming the door shut with considerable force. 

The loud bang made both Joycelyn and the little Rocky tremble. 

Then, there was the sound of another door closing. 

The world fell silent. 

“It’s okay, let’s go back to sleep.” Joycelyn sighed in relief, having finally gotten through it. 

She lay back down, holding Rocky tightly. 

Rocky snuggled up to her like a little baby, very clingy. 

Joycelyn’s heart softened, and she quickly forgot the unpleasantness from before.
