Joycelyn saw his expression soften, his gaze shifting from cold to warm. It caught her off guard, and for a moment, she couldn’t look away.

The chatter in different languages around her was a bit overwhelming, but the nervousness of almost being caught made her heart race. 

“Go ahead. I’m just gonna have breakfast,” Joycelyn said, giving a playful smile like a proud wife. 

“Yeah,” Ellison replied, his voice low. As soon as she moved, he let go of his warm look and turned cold again. “Continue.” 

Then, Joycelyn breathed out, trying to act like nothing was off. 

She had purposely acted a bit silly and used high–pitched voice, hoping no one would notice her identity. 

After all, Joycelyn was known as the quiet, intellectual type at work, so that voice and playful act were totally out of character. 

She told herself not to snoop again when he was busy–no more being curious. 

On her way to the dining table, Joycelyn nearly tripped herself, nerves getting the best of her. 

“Slow down, careful,” Ellison’s voice was still calm, but she could hear the concern in it. 

“I’m fine, I’m fine,” she replied, feeling a little too self–conscious as goosebumps crept up her arms. 

The whole thing was her idea, the persona she had to play. 

Soon, she sat down and tried to focus on the food to distract herself from the tension. 

The seafood breakfast helped, though, and she started to feel more relaxed. 

Once Ellison finished his call, he joined her at the table. 

“You hungry?” he asked, wiping his hands with tissue. He watched her, noticing how fast she was eating. 

“Yeah, just a little,” she said, then let out a tiny burp. Embarrassed, she quickly rolled her eyes and bit her lip. 

Ellison gave her a quick glance, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. 

Joycelyn wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but when Ellison walked over and looked at her, it felt so loving. Maybe she was just seeing things. 

“Was I too quick to jump in? Do you think the companies are gonna find out about our marriage soon?” she asked. 

“You worried your cover is blown?” Ellison sipped his nutritional juice, giving her a curious look. He studied her face like he was trying to read her thoughts. 

The thing is, you only brought me along for the business trip. If anyone asks, I’ll probably get exposed,” Joycelyn said, frowning as she picked at the king crab leg, a little frustrated. 

“Don’t worry. If you want it kept private, I’ll make sure it stays that way. No one will know you’re my wife or that you’re a staff,” he reassured her.

“Wow, I didn’t know capitalists were so self–aware,” Joycelyn joke, taking a bite of crab. 

That was the truth. She worked hard every day, making just over hiree thousand dollars a month. 

Meanwhile, he… well, she had no idea how many millions his business made by just sitting back and enjoying the sunshine.. 

“What’s that saying? Ask and you shall receive,” she added with a rin. 

Ellison gave her a small smirk but didn’t answer. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and asked, “Compared to money, I’m the more tempting option, huh?” 

Joycelyn froze for a second. She avoided his gaze, busy chewing on her crab claws. 

She was reminded of how things had gone down after she had drunk too much. It had all been a mix of curiosity about relationships and the things between men and women. 

But she wasn’t about to admit that.. 

“Cat got your tongue?” Ellison teased, smiling wider. The more she kept quiet and avoided him, the more he seemed to enjoy teasing her. 

Joycelyn chewed on her words for a second before finally saying “Well, it takes two to tango.”

At that, Joycelyn stood up and rushed to the floor–to–ceiling windows. “Wow, look at that island. It’s gorgeous!” 

From a distance, it looked like a pearl resting on the water. 

The closer they got, the more she was in awe. “This place is like a dream. So many flowers. 

“Yeah, they brought everything in a month ago. The setup was finished yesterday,” Ellison said as he kept eating.
