“You attended the lecture, too? Aren’t you worried about causing a scene?” asked Joycelyn. 

“Don’t worry, I wore a mask. There wasn’t a soul on campus when I got there, said Ellison as he reached out and held Joycelyn’s slightly cold hand. 

“Why are your hands so cold?” he asked. 

Joycelyn sighed, debating whether she should bring up the situation with the photos. Just as she was about to speak, William, the ever–diligent assistant, turned around from the front seat and spoke up. 

“Mr. Grant, you’ve already postponed three important meeting day. Now that Mrs. Grant is done with class, should we head back to the office to deal with those urgent matters?” asked William. 

William had always been obedient unless things were serious, then he had no choice but to overstep his boundaries. 

Ellison didn’t hesitate. He replied, “Alright, let’s head back to the office” 

He turned to Joycelyn, who seemed lost in thought. “What about you? Are you going home or going back to the office?” 

Before she could answer, her phone started ringing non–stop. The constant notifications flooded in, her phone buzzing with 

messages 

She unlocked it and saw that everyone in her department was tagging her in various posts. 

Lucy had also sent her a message. Joycelyn opened the company group chat first, and almost immediately, a notification popped up. The notification read, “$2,000 has been deposited into your account.” 

“Grandma’s giving out bonuses? She’s giving out money to everyone at the company,” said Joycelyn with a smile. Her mood lifted. 

Ellison glanced at his own phone, eyes narrowing. He replied, “Seems so. Except for me.” 

The irony was not lost on him. His employees, everyone in the company, had received bonuses from his grandmother. But not him, her grandson and the groom–to–be. 

He didn’t receive anything at all. 

Joycelyn tapped away at her phone and then turned to him. She said. “I’ll split mine into half and send you half. She was about to transfer $1,000 to him when he stopped her. 

“No need. It doesn’t sound good, Ellison rejected in a low voice. 

He didn’t care about this small sum of money, and the meaning was terrible. 

“Splitting the money? Oh.” Even Joycelyn had not thought of it that way..

It seemed that her man was quite superstitious.

Joycelyn shrugged playfully and said, “Don’t worry. When it comes time to pick out our wedding outfit, I’ll make sure to choose the most expensive ones for you.” 

Speaking of this. Joycelyn remembered that she was going to buy the wedding clothes and items for the wedding with his grandmother. 

He replied. “No need. Actually, I already ordered it. I didn’t let her pick. I don’t trust her taste.” 

Joycelyn asked, “You’ve already ordered them? When?”

Joycelyn thought for a moment, then said, “I think Grandma would prefer to choose on her own, though. After all, you’re her only grandson. She probably wants to handle everything herself.” 

Joycelyn had a pretty good understanding of Isolde’s strong–willed nature. She was a woman who had dominated the business world for years, so she couldn’t just sit back now that she was retired. 

She only had one grandson, and that was Ellison. Naturally, she wanted to handle everything. 

Joycelyn offered, “If you don’t want to go, I’ll go with her.” 

“Don’t worry, she won’t be idle,” Ellison said lightly.

Ellison narrowed his eyes and glanced at the photo. Then, he put on a disdainful expression and said, “It’s obvious this young man is a scam artist, swindling money and playing around 

“Can’t you hope my best friend is doing well with her new man? Joycelyn retorted. She looked again and commented, “He looks quite handsome. He’s young, handsome, and has a good physique. He’s quite good.” 

Ellison’s jaw tightened, and he leaned back in the car, his Adam apple working as he swallowed. 

He spoke in a mellow and pleasant tone, Lucky for you, the first guy you met was me. If you’d met some guy like that, you’d be sold off by him and you’d still count the money for him.” 

Ellison reached over and ruffled her hair, looking extremely satisfied with himself. 

Joycelyn turned around and ignored him. She continued chatting with Lucy. 

She also sent a thank–you message to Liam in between her replies to Lucy.
