Chapter 492 Whitney Is Missing
I was completely taken aback by Damian’s taste. When I followed him to meet the blind girl, she was fragile and delicate, yet so pure and beautiful.
It felt like something straight out of a romance novel, where the tough guy falls for a delicate woman.
I was hooked.
Damian followed her like a shadow, and I could not help but feel anxious. If he liked her, why wasn’t he making a move?
Otherwise, someone else would surely take her away.
Suddenly, the girl stopped, turned toward Damian with her white cane, and said, “I know you’re there.”
Damian was silent.
She continued, “How long are you staying this time before you leave?”
Damian finally spoke, “I’m not leaving Snowville for now.”
The girl rushed toward him, almost tripping since she could not see the path, but Damian caught her just in time.
I smiled. This was love. Why was I even worried?
“Carl, let’s go.”
“Are you feeling better now?”
Carter pressed the gas, and as we drove past the rows of roses lining the road, I sat quietly in the passenger seat, feeling calm and content.
I glanced at Damian and the girl in the rearview mirror the city bustling behind them and the sky clear with a few fluffy clouds. The scene was perfect.
In the distance, a vendor, chased by city officials, accidentally let go of his balloons, adding a touch of whimsy to the composition.
It was beautiful.
As I watched, a sense of calm began to wash over the pain in my heart.
However, my smile quickly faded as I thought of Whitney.
It had been two nights–is she alright?
Inervously fiddled with my seatbelt and asked softly, “Carl, has Whitney gotten in touch with you?”
“Yeah, she contacted me once, just to let me know she’s okay.”
“You went after Alisa this time, and you captured a few survivors. You must have gotten some information by now, right?”

“Captain Tucker’s team has been interrogating them, but only Alisa knows anything about Luther. The others haven’t had the chance to contact him. It depends on whether she decides to talk.”
Just then, Carter’s phone buzzed. He handed it to me. “Chloe, can you check this for me?”
“Sure.”
Usually, we respected each other’s privacy, but after he had gone through all my things once, I could not help but peek at his messages.
If we ever argued and he teased me about checking out male models, at least I would have a little something to tease him back with.
I looked at the message from an unfamiliar number, and my smile immediately faded.
“Change of plans. Boarding early.”
Whitney!
With Alisa in trouble, it made sense that Luther would be making a move. He was likely trying to escape.
I gripped Carter’s phone tightly, feeling like it could explode at any moment. I typed and deleted my reply, uncertain if they were using a code, and I did not want to say anything that might put Whitney at risk.
However, if she was boarding early, would it mess up Carter’s plan?
I quickly informed him, and Carter immediately pulled over to the side of the road.
Seeing my worried expression, he quickly reassured me, “Don’t worry, I’ve already thought of this and have backup plans in place.”
I felt a bit relieved but still anxious. “Carl, have you contacted Taylor?”
“No, he changed his contact details after leaving Bolton Residence.”
“So, he doesn’t know Whitney is also boarding the ship
“Most likely.”
Even though the cruise ship was huge, Luther would keep Whitney away from everyone else
For him, it was just an opportunity to take her.
I had no idea what their plan was, so I could only hope Carter had it under control. “Carl, what do we do now?”
“I’ve checked the people who returned from the event earlier. The exchange lasts for four days and three nights. For the first two days, they’re just indulging in distractions–money, beautiful women, and everything the organizers offer. That means there’s internet and signal on the ship right now.
“So, Whitney can keep sending you her location?”
“Correct,” Carter nodded. “I’ve already mapped out the route and prepared a cargo ship to follow their path for the first few days.”

Though it seemed straightforward, the real concern was Luther. Had he caught wind of their plan? Would Whitney succeed?
Just then, my phone rang. It was Whitney.
She must have timed it carefully, clearly needing to keep up the act for Luther.
I answered the call, trying to keep my voice calm.
“Whitney.”
“Chloe.” Her tone was as composed as usual, and it was hard to tell we had argued.
“Our school arranged a four–day and three–night exchange, and I’ll be back in a few days.”
I replied casually, “It’s nice to get away for a bit, but make sure to take care of yourself on the boat.”
“I will,” Whitney kept it brief.
“Come back soon, I’ll be here waiting.”
“Sure.”
Even after she hung up, I could not help but hold the phone tightly. “Carl, I’m going with you on the boat
Carter did not object, “Sure, but we’ll need to maintain a steady pace and keep our distance from their ship. No rushing.”
He made it clear that while everything was set up, things could still go wrong. If something unexpected happened, we would not be able to act fast enough.
It was all up to fate.
Would fate really be so harsh on Whitney?
We boarded the cargo ship at a different port.
Honestly, I did not feel great about this. In my past life, I took risks to find Luke and ended up stranded at sea. If it had not been for Carter, I would have drowned

The readers' comments on the novel: Even after Her Death (Chloe and Luke)
I take back my compliment and this is another novel I stop reading. Why are there so many chapters missing!!!! If much rather pay to read than read the rubbish on this site...
Finally a good story with mostly uninterrupted reading due to garbled paragraphs, which is evident in most of the other novels I've tried reading and given up on I'm thoroughly enjoying it!...
