“Honestly, the two of you didn’t do anything major. We’ve checked, and that thief is a repeat offender. He was let off with a warning last time, but his attitude wasn’t great. Since he wasn’t eighteen yet, our hands were tied. But today, he just turned eighteen, so we can finally take proper action.”
The officer in charge was extremely polite to Waylon and Louis. After a brief exchange, he sent someone to notify the higher–ups. Soon, a middle–aged policeman appeared.
The policeman’s demeanor was warm and friendly. After exchanging pleasantries with Waylon and Louis, he turned to Freya and Jasmine with noticeably more patience.
“Regardless, standing up for justice is a good thing. I hope you’ll keep that spirit, but next time, try to think of a safer approach. Generally speaking, young men–especially those around seventeen or eighteen–can be more dangerous than adults. They’re impulsive and prone to reckless behavior, so it’s best to be cautious.”
He gestured toward the interrogation room. “The one you dealt with is full of regrets now, claiming he doesn’t even know why he pulled out the knife.”
Freya wasn’t buying it. “I think he did it on purpose. If it wasn’t intentional, why would he hide the stolen goods on me? He’s only pretending to regret it because he got caught.”
“I think so too, but it doesn’t matter now. Whether it was intentional or not, he committed a crime and has to face the consequences. We’ve finished all the necessary paperwork, so you’re free to go.” The policeman, Jackson waved them off.
Waylon grinned and slung an arm around Jackson’s shoulders. “Thanks for handling this, Jackson. Let’s grab a drink sometime–just don’t tell father.”

“Just stay out of trouble, you little kid,” Jackson said, giving Waylon’s forehead a light flick before lowering his voice. “That’s your girlfriend?”
“Future girlfriend,” Waylon corrected with a smirk. “Today was just a coincidence–Freya and Jasmine running into each other like that. Thank goodness no one got hurt, or I’d have lost it.” He dramatically clutched his chest.
Jackson snorted. “As if anything could scare you! But I’ll admit, it’s rare to see Louis step out of his shell. His wife’s got more warmth than he does–proof that opposites make the best matches. Makes life more interesting.”
He nudged Waylon with his elbow. “You should step up your game too. Your father
