“Uh, I don’t really know… Maybe? Anyway, they’re all pretty expensive.” Freya was speaking when the elevator doors beside her suddenly opened. Louis stepped out, having heard everything she had just said.
“What’s going on?” Louis asked as he reached the door.
“Nothing much. The delivery guy wants to buy a bag, but it’s not mine. I figured I could ask my friends if they could get him a discount.” Freya quickly explained, afraid Louis might not understand the situation and accidentally reveal something.
The delivery guy was actually a little intimidated by Louis. Plus, the price of the bag was way beyond what he had expected. He immediately responded,
“Oh, no, no, never mind. If it’s a luxury item, then forget it. Someone like me doesn’t need such an expensive bag anyway. Are these all the packages? If so, I’ll start packing up and get them ready for shipment.”
“Yeah, that’s all of them. Thanks for handling it,” Freya said. She knew this batch was smaller than the previous ones. However, since the bags they were selling varied in popularity, the bestsellers naturally sold out first, while the rest took longer to move.
“No trouble at all,” the delivery guy said, grabbing the packages and stepping into the elevator.
The old Freya had no such foresight—she used to fall for sales tricks all the time, and she had zero, sense of caution when she was out and about. His friends had warned him about it on more than one occasion. In fact, they often pitied him for manying someone so naive, someone who didn’t even know how to shop wisely.
