A Castle
Freya remembered how the big shots in the business world back in her original world were just like that–always making headlines.
The reason she brought it up was that she was worried Louis might end up the same way. He looked wealthy on the surface, but people like that sometimes didn’t pay off their debts when they had money, which only made things worse when they didn’t, eventually forcing them into bankruptcy.
Louis stroked her hair. “People who act like that are usually the ones who made their fortune by riding government policies a few years back. But things are different now. I don’t like owing people money. Sure, my family’s bank won’t press me for repayment, but it’s still better to clear it as soon as possible.”
“Yeah, being in debt is awful.” Freya suddenly realized something. “So, when you said you weren’t in debt back then, that wasn’t true?”
Louis paused for a second before remembering–she meant the day after they moved.
“No, I really wasn’t in debt at the time. I borrowed money later on because other projects happened to be short on funding. I had no choice but to take out a loan.”
“Oh. So are you making enough now to pay it back?”
“More than enough–there’s even a surplus.” Louis gave her head a gentle pat. “Want to look at houses?”
“What houses?” Freya’s face wrinkled. “Are we moving again?”
“We can’t rent forever. It’s not our place; it’s inconvenient. I had someone check out a few villas. You can see which one you like, and when we’ve got time, we’ll go visit. The sooner we buy one, the sooner we’ll have peace of mind.”
As he spoke, Louis opened a folder and showed Freya all the messages his friends had sent him. What she was seeing was the result of his summaries and filtered selections.
Inside the main folder were seven more folders. Louis clicked on the first one; it contained a bunch of pictures and a document. He enlarged the first image and began to explain,
“This one isn’t that big, but the layout’s decent. Since it’s in the city, the landscaping isn’t as spacious as other villas, but the upside is, the neighborhood’s lively, and it’s convenient for work or errands.”

Chapter 232 A Castle
The house in the photo looked quite refined–a two–story place with five rooms. The living room had floor–to–ceiling windows facing a small garden. Though the space seemed a little tight, it was delicate and charming; honestly, not bad at all.
But that wasn’t the point. “How much does this house cost? And aren’t you supposed to be paying off debt?”
She wanted to ask why he was involving her in his decision to buy a house, why he suddenly needed her opinion on something so major. But now that they were officially together, she didn’t dare say it out loud. Still, the truth was, she wasn’t all that eager to help him choose.
“A down payment is no problem. I’ll cover the rest in installments. Based on projected income, the whole thing can be paid off in a year,” Louis added. “Without affecting any other business investments.”
In other words, as long as his business budgets weren’t disrupted, Louis could afford to buy a villa every year.
Freya swallowed hard and asked, “So how much is this villa?”
“This one’s a little over a hundred million. The most expensive out of the seven is over five hundred million. If you want this one, it’ll take just over half a year. If you want the priciest one, it’ll take around two years.”
Louis explained further, “There are other ventures that still need investment, so I have to reserve some capital. In two or three years, it’ll get a lot better. For now, you’ll have to settle for just one villa. After the other projects roll out one by one, we can buy a few more. You’ll be able to live wherever you want.”
“Settle? What is there to settle for when we’re living in a villa? Even if you bought a dozen, when I sleep, I only take up a little under a meter wide and maybe two meters long. You think I’m gonna hog all the space or something?”
Freya felt like her imagination had been limited by poverty. A villa. She’d never even imagined she’d get to live in one. But thinking about it… it still didn’t stir much emotion.
She shook her head and adorably/pouted. “I don’t really care about villas. Honestly, I might even think they’re too big. You’re showing me all this, but I can’t really tell what’s good or bad.”
