Chapter 245 Surprise I Brought Breakfast
Derek continued to say, “Gotta get up early again tomorrow to play chauffeur for a man in love–can anyone be more pathetic than me?”
“Come on, bedtime.” Derek scooped up the cat and tucked it into its little bed before heading off to brush his teeth. He had to leave by live in the morning; without Louis‘ looks, if he didn’t take care of himself, it wouldn’t matter if he managed to buy a house–he still wouldn’t land a girlfriend..
The next morning, Derek drove through the lingering darkness toward the film studio where Freya was working. He even stopped to pick up breakfast. His own food stayed in the car, while Louis took a much larger bag with him into the set.
Bored out of his mind in the car, Derek munched on his breakfast while scrolling through his phone, waiting for Louis‘ next instructions.
Freya had arrived early that morning. She hadn’t even had time to eat–she’d been revising some material when she noticed a buzz of chatter spreading around the set.
Still, she wasn’t the type to get caught up in drama. Her thoughts were still immersed in the storyline.
Until a bag suddenly appeared in front of her, followed by a familiar, low voice, “Hard at work again? Time for breakfast.”
She turned her head quickly–and sure enough, it was Louis. She shot up from her seat, a smile spreading across her face before her mind even caught up.
“It’s you! What are you doing here?”
“Well, since you won’t come see me, I had to come see your What, not happy to see me?” Louis sat down beside her.
He opened the bag and started unpacking breakfast–congee, fried dough sticks, buns, stir- fried noodles, and dim sum. It was a feast.
“You brought all this? You didn’t eat either?” Freya asked, then immediately realized–if Louis was already here this early, he must’ve left before dawn.
She looked into his eyes. Even though he didn’t have dark circles, she still felt both touched and guilty. She couldn’t help but scold him a little.

Chapter 245 Surprise I Brought Breakfast
“Why’d you rush over like this? You know I cat properly. I stick to a good schedule–you know that. You must’ve gotten up super early. Did you even sleep last night?”
Listening to her half–scolding, half–concerned tone, Louis thought she looked just like a little kitten–huffing and puffing but completely harmless. Maybe she was even trying to swat him with h
tiny claws. But instead of fear, it only made him want to scoop her up and squeeze
her tight.
Still, he played along and gave her a proper answer. “Alright, next time I’ll come the night before.”
Freya dragged the small table closer to him, placing his favorite pork congee right in front of him. She even unwrapped it and set a spoon inside. Louis always chose his breakfast spots carefully, so food safety was never a concern.
“Eat more. Are you heading back later?”
“Nope. I’m staying here with you.” He’d stayed up working until 2 AM, then gotten up again around 4 AM. Now, seeing her in person finally calmed that anxious feeling in his chest.
All those creeping, irrational fears–that one day she’d disappear and be replaced by the other woman–they all melted away the moment he saw her, real and radiant.
“But I might be really busy today.” Freya instinctively wanted to spend time with him, but there was a lot going on–Sophia had been dragging her scenes, throwing off the entire schedule. They were already scrambling to catch up.
“You do your thing. Don’t worry about me. I just want to be near you.” Louis didn’t care what she was doing. Just being close was enough. He placed her favorite dishes in front of her. “Don’t mind me. Just eat.”
“Mm.” Freya nodded sweetly, then leaned closer to his car and whispered, “I’m so glad I have you.”
Louis‘ heart melted.
In that instant, he finally understood what those guys at the research lab meant when they used to say. Being in love is like suddenly growing a weakness–but also strapping on armor. You feel like you’d do anything for her, go to war even, as long as it keeps her safe.
If it was for Freya, Louis would gladly don his armor and go to battle–whatever it took to protect her.
“When you’re done today, there’s something I want to tell you.”

Louis wasn’t the type to keep everything to himself. He respected Freya, and he believed she deserved to know about those photos–even if he could handle it alone, she had the right to be in the loop.
“What is it?” Freya mumbled through a bite of her bun, her words muffled.
“I’ll tell you when you’re done. It’s nothing serious,” Louis gently took the bun from her mouth and handed her some juice–worried she’d choke.
