Chapter 266 Snacks Are Served
“Do you think Mr. Graham is as cold to his wife as he is to us? Please, he’s got to be all fire and passion with her.” Another female colleague spoke up righteously.
The others shivered involuntarily at the thought of Louis being passionate.
“I honestly can’t even picture Mr. Graham being passionate; forget it. Him keeping a bit of distance from people is actually better–at least it’s not awkward.” One woman shook her head. “Let’s just get back to work. He’s not someone we could ever realistically go so what’s the point in daydreaming?”
for anyway,
“Exactly. Mr. Graham is out of our league. Even if love did come knocking one day, I doubt we could handle it. Better to just focus on work–making money brings happiness.”
The group continued working as they chatted, but in the end, they silently warned themselves to show more respect the next time they crossed paths with Freya–no need to dig their own graves.
When Freya got up, it was already close to three in the afternoon. She did a quick wash–up and stepped out, spotting Louis behind his desk working through a stack of documents. The place was empty otherwise; even the area behind the glass wall–where she and Kendrick had done their livestream–was deserted.
“You’re awake. Did you rest well?” Louis–paused his work and looked up at her.
“Yeah, I did. The soundproofing in your office is seriously impressive–I didn’t hear a thing in there.” Freya pulled her laptop out of her rolling suitcase, only to notice snacks, dried fruits, and drinks laid out neatly on the coffee table.
She hesitated and pointed at the table. “You got all this for me?”
Louis answered casually, “Figured you might be hungry when you woke up. I couldn’t take a break for afternoon tea, so I had Derek bring you something to eat.”
Yup, definitely his move. If it wasn’t pastries, it was dried fruit–all healthy snacks. Even the drinks were fruit juice and fruit wine, with zero signs of artificial anything.
Freya didn’t hold back her praise.
“You’re basically the perfect partner. I’m lucky to have you.”
“Just say the word if you need anything. If you don’t feel like typing, you can watch a movie

or something. Don’t worry about the sound bothering me. You could even head out for a walk if you want, though I don’t have time to go with you right now.” Louis paused, then added, “Or you could call up some friends and go shopping together?”
Freya looked confused. “Why would I go shopping? I don’t need anything.”
“Maybe pick up some clothes, accessories, handbags… that kind of thing. You haven’t really bought any of that since we got together,” Louis said thoughtfully. “We’re not short on money anymore, so you should get a few things. As for custom pieces, you’ll need to book in advance–it’ll take a bit of time.”
Oh. Freya finally got it–Louis thought she needed to update her wardrobe.
“Got it. I’ve just never really paid attention to that stuff. Let me take a look first. I don’t even know what counts as a name brand–let alone what’s considered luxury in this world.”
She sounded perfectly matter–of–fact about it. After all, she’d just been an average girl before; she didn’t know much about any of this. But since she was with Louis now, she had to adapt. Luxury goods were part of the lifestyle; if she didn’t use them, the media would have a field day.
They’d say Louis was mistreating his wife, or that he was on the verge of bankruptcy- otherwise why couldn’t she even afford a luxury bag?
Still, Freya asked, “If I mess up and pick things that aren’t fancy enough, you won’t be embarrassed by me, right?”
Louis blinked, then chuckled. “Of course not. I make money so you can be happy. If spending it makes you miserable, then what’s the point of earning it? However you like things–that’s how it should be. Even if you dressed plainly every day, you’d still be a treasure in my eyes.”
Freya felt so touched she almost ran over and kissed him, but she held back. “Okay, then I feel better. I don’t have much of a sense of style–especially not when it comes to luxury brands. As long as you don’t mind, I don’t care what other people say.”
Her smile bloomed like spring flowers in March; it was impossible not to feel cheerful looking at her. Louis watched as she happily opened her laptop and tossed him a line:
“I’m gonna start doing some research.”
