“What’s going on?” A familiar voice cut in. Everyone turned their heads–it was Louis and Aiden.
Aiden bounced over to Freya’s side, then looked at Josie with feigned curiosity. “Who are these three ladies?”
Everyone knew Louis had a nephew, so Josie couldn’t exactly protest being called a random lady out of the blue. She forced a smile. “Hello, Aiden. I’m Josie.”
Aiden’s little face tightened. “Who said you could call me Aiden? You think just anyone gets to call me that?”
He grabbed Freya’s hand and complained, “Freya, is this woman your friend? I mean, it’s one thing that she looks weird, but she’s also rude. You really shouldn’t hang out with her–it brings down your vibe.”
Josie tried to greet Louis, but he didn’t even glance her way. Instead, he patted Aiden on head and said to Freya, “Don’t waste your time on people who don’t matter. You should buy a few more things–we’re still going to the movies tonight, aren’t we?”

Josie had never seen Louis speak so gently to anyone before. That cold, aloof demeanor of his seemed to completely melt away whenever he looked at Freya.
And then it hit her–what Louis had said. Her face flushed instantly. She wasn’t usually one to get flustered, but something about Louis, usually the very image of elegance and detachment, speaking like that… it was just too much to take.
And the fact that he was going to the movies with someone–actually taking someone to a movie–was beyond comprehension.
For the first time, Josie had a thought. If only I had stuck by Louis back when he’d lost everything. Maybe it could’ve been me standing here now.
Freya had no interest in dealing with Josie. They weren’t close, never had been. Josie’s past connection with the original host wasn’t anything worth mentioning. No reason to waste
energy.
“I was in the middle of shopping, but Josie suddenly called out to me to say hello. You guys go wait a bit–I’m going to get back to picking things out.”
She turned around and said to Josie, sounding perfectly polite, “Well then, Josie, I’ll keep

Still stuck in awkwardness and her own spiraling thoughts, Josie said nothing. Seeing the way Louis treated Freya made everything crystal clear. She didn’t try to stop her; she just nodded stiffly and let Freya walk away.
The women beside Josic looked like they wanted to say something to Louis, but Josie held out a hand to stop them, so they shut their mouths reluctantly.
Once Freya was far enough away, Josie pulled out her phone and messaged her private group chat with her friends: “You guys won’t believe this–I just ran into Freya. She was shopping at the new mall, and guess who was with her? Mr. Graham. And get this–he was really sweet to her. Said he was taking her to the movies later. Not at all like the rumors. I’ve never seen him act so gentle before. I almost said the wrong thing.”
“Wait, what? That’s huge! Are you saying Mr. Graham actually has real feelings for Freya now? No way. Just because she didn’t divorce him before? That’d make Mr. Graham way too easy.”
“If I’d known he’d end up like this, I would’ve clung to him like crazy back then. Who cares. about dignity? A rich, hot guy like Mr. Graham is once in a lifetime. Ugh, Freya that idiot totally lucked out.”
“Honestly, men are all the same. Too easy to win over. But now that Mr. Graham’s back on top, there’s no chance for us anymore. Sigh… I wish I had that kind of luck. The guy my dad set me up with last week seemed okay at first, but now? Compared to Mr. Graham, I’m just grossed out.”
“If that’s your standard, then you’re never getting married. Guys like Mr. Graham are rare. I always thought Freya had good fortune–even if he didn’t love her, he never cut her off financially. He’s so generous; how can you not be jealous?”
