Chapter 282 Not on the Same Wavelength
The problem is, she’s all arrogant now and clearly has no intention of acknowledging us. So what do we
do!
What’s the rush? I heard something interesting the other day–back when Mr. Graham was down and out, she sold off quite a lot of stuff. Now she’ll need to replace it all, right? That’s actually why Josie ran into her the other day. You can’t get everything at once. If we invite her out shopping, she’ll probably come along.
What kind of plan is that? What if she refuses? Are we supposed to drag her out by force?
We don’t have to. We can just talk about shopping–related things in front of her. No matter what kind of woman she is, she still likes pretty things. I bet she’ll jump into the conversation. And once she does, reconnecting won’t be hard at all.
Clearly, your intel isn’t as good as mine. I heard she’s obsessed with screenwriting now. She even went on set to work as a script coordinator. If she’s not into clothes or jewelry anymore, we can just talk to her about her work.
That’s just useless talk. Did you forget what kind of family Mr. Kendrick comes from? With him around, there’s no room for us to get involved–it’s just embarrassing.
Well, I’ve already shared what I know. Believe it or not, up to you. Just don’t say I didn’t give you a heads–up later.
The group chat meandered from one pointless topic to another. As for what each person was actually thinking, only they themselves knew.
The next morning, Freya headed out as usual to buy groceries. Louis wouldn’t be home for lunch, but little Aiden was still around–and he had wrapped his arms around her waist, begging for meatballs. Since meatballs weren’t exactly the most nutritious, she figured she might as well take the opportunity to make some extra desserts and snacks while she had the time.
back home, she noticed several people had sent her friend requests–every But when she got single one from that group chat yesterday. Freya initially didn’t want to bother with it, but then remembered what Aiden had said the night before, so she decided t requests.

After putting the groceries away, changing her clothes, and washing her hands to get started, her phone wouldn’t stop pinging. She picked it up–several of them were already messaging her. She casually tapped on one of the chats and saw a simple greeting.

She was just about to ignore it when the person suddenly sent a few images–photos of clothes and handbags, and the last one was of some jewelry.
What’s this supposed to mean?
Freya was momentarily
Onlused. Was this person trying to sell her something?
She backed out of the chat and opened the group to check the member list. Yep, this girl was definitely in the group. But surely no one in that group would stoop to selling stuff online, right? They were all trust fund kids.
Or… was this girl just trying to show off her luxury goods? Like Louis couldn’t afford to buy me those? Even on her own salary now, she could easily afford a few luxury items.
Not to mention, there wasn’t a single thing in those pictures that she actually liked. If the goal was to make her jealous, that was just a total failure.
But things turned out to be different from what Freya had assumed. The girl soon sent another message that made her intentions clear:
“Freya, what do you think of these pieces I picked out? My parents have been giving me tons of allowance lately, so I figured it’s time to get a few new things. I already know what those other girls like, but I haven’t heard your opinion in a while. Got any suggestions?”
Oh. So she wanted Freya’s opinion.
Even though there was no one else around, Freya still felt strangely awkward.
