Chapter 315 One Bed, One Hug, One Big Problem
“My brain says ‘Yeah yeah, I know, my eyes say ‘I can’t help it, and my hands go ‘I just can’t stop myself, so I’ve decided to keep looking.”
Louis’s low laugh echoed clearly through the room.
Freya couldn’t tell if her face was red from the heat or embarrassment. Her tone carried a mix of annoyance and shyness.
“I just wanna look a little. I won’t be long, I swear I’ll go to sleep soon.”
“Okay, okay. Look a little and then sleep,” Louis said, obviously humoring her.
He reached over and turned on the other bedside lamp. The light was bright without being harsh–perfect for reading or scrolling in bed.
Freya scrolled for a few more minutes before silently setting her phone down and turning off the light. Even though she still wasn’t sleepy, she didn’t want to disturb Louis.
But after lying there for a while, she just couldn’t fall asleep. She rolled over, then immediately reminded herself Stay still! Don’t toss and turn! Don’t disturb Louis. Be a quiet little chicken.
“Can’t sleep?” came his voice from beside her.
Freya let out a defeated sigh. “Did I wake you up?”
“How can you call that disturbing me? We’ve got decades ahead of us. Not being able to sleep sometimes is totally normal.” He turned over and shifted closer to her, his voice soft and comforting. “Having someone suddenly next to you takes getting used to. I’m not used to it either.”
“Oh, so you can’t sleep either?” Freya didn’t dare turn her head. She just lay there, staring straight ahead, super proper, while Louis lay on his side, gazing at her profile.
“Wanna fall asleep faster?” he asked.
Of course she did. “Yes.”
The second she spoke, she felt his arm wrap around her waist and, with a gentle tug, landed squarely in his arms.

The sudden move startled her so much she nearly jumped out of bed, but he quickly kissed her forehead and gave her a few reassuring pats.
“This helps you get used to it quicker. Relax. Don’t be so tense. Just sleep.”
She kind of wanted to wriggle away, but that might’ve seemed a little dramatic. She hesitated for a whole minute and missed her window to escape, so she stayed where she was, curled up obediently in Louis’s arms.
His familiar scent surrounded her, his steady breathing soothed her. She’d thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but the second she closed her eyes and told herself to rest, she drifted off without realizing it.
She slept straight through the night. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a handsome face, followed by a soft good morning kiss.
“Morning.”
His arm was still snug around her waist. Freya realized that the blanket separating them last night was gone, and she was practically molded into his embrace.
Like a startled ostrich, she immediately buried her head in his chest. Louis let her, and from somewhere near his heart came a muffled voice.
“Good morning.”
And just like that, his whole mood brightened.
“Wanna get up now, or stay in bed a little longer?”
There were tons of things waiting for him at the office, but compared to the woman in his arms, none of them seemed to matter. Even last night’s restlessness felt sweet in hindsight. He stroked her hair gently, his voice as soft as ever.
“Up, up, up!” Freya sat up abruptly, realizing the sun was already high in the sky.
“Alright, let’s get up then.” He let go, giving her room to move.
Freya sat up with the blanket clutched to her chest, then immediately dropped back down and hid under it, leaving only a furry little head peeking out.
“You go first.”
“Okay.” Guessing that she was feeling a little shy, Louis didn’t push. He got up and went to
