Chapter 323 Caught in the Act
Freya stuffed the leftover food into her bag while Kendrick stared in disbelief.
“Freya, it’s not like Louis ever lets you go hungry. What’s the big deal? Worst case, we can grab a bite and come back to the lord’s manor later.”
“Wasting food is shameful, you know,” Freya shot back, already finishing up. She quickly caught up with the other two as they headed toward the manor.
Unsurprisingly, the lord’s manor was heavily guarded. But with their stealth skills, the trio slipped in undetected.
They crept around, relying on Freya’s knowledge of ancient architecture to guess the layout. After some trial and error, they finally reached the main courtyard.
The place was massive, though, and they had no idea which room belonged to the city lord.
“We can’t just barge in on the lord. When do you ever face the final boss right away? We need clues first. Plus, our levels are too low–we’d get crushed,” Freya whispered, trailing behind the other two and dodging patrolling guards. Their plan was flimsy at best.
“Huh, Freya’s got a point. Let’s eavesdrop on that building over there–the smaller one next to the main hall,” Baylon suggested, pointing to the left.
Better than nothing. The three sneaked toward the building and pressed their ears against the wall, only to hear… unexpected noises.
“You’re amazing, sir. No wonder all the girls fall for you. You’re so… skilled.”
“Such a sweet talker. Come here, give me a kiss.”
Freya gasped, accidentally stepping on a loose pebble. Just then, a party invite popped up, and to her surprise, she hit “Accept.”
She lost her balance and bumped into the wall. The sound wasn’t loud, but it was enough to alert the people inside.
“Who’s out there?” a voice roared.
The trio bolted, but the door flew open before they could escape. Freya turned–and slammed straight into someone’s chest.

She looked up.
Louis.
Dressed in his usual white robes, he stood like a scene from a painting, effortlessly drawing every eye. The disheveled man from inside stumbled out, gaping at the four of them.
“Who are you? What are you doing sneaking around here?”
Louis didn’t answer. His expression darkened as he clamped a hand over Freya’s eyes, then shot a glare at Baylon and Kendrick.
The two opened their mouths to greet him, but Louis‘ sharp look made them freeze. They took a synchronized step back.
Baylon scrambled to explain.
“Louis, this isn’t on us. Freya triggered a hidden quest at the brothel. We were just helping her out. How were we supposed to know the NPCs here would be so… uncensored?”
Freya blinked in confusion.
Why is Louis covering my eyes?
Then she heard Baylon’s words and immediately protested.
“Hold on, let’s get this straight. I didn’t go to a brothel for fun. Micky and John told me to test this place–they said it was a legit venue! And I had no idea it would trigger a quest!”
“Of course it’s not your fault,” Louis said calmly. “This part of the game isn’t polished yet. Let’s go. You don’t need to finish this quest. Micky and John can tweak it first.”
He pulled Freya away, giving Baylon and Kendrick a pointed look before they all logged out.
It wasn’t until after disconnecting that Kendrick realized something.
