After the call, Louis got back to work, quietly handling his company’s affairs while waiting for updates.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Wells sat in silence after hanging up. Across from him, his wife, Ella Wallace, noticed his expression and raised an eyebrow. “What’s with that look? You just got off the phone, didn’t you? I thought someone called to check in. Why do you look like you just stepped in something awful?”

Isaiah shot her a glare. “Do you ever think before you speak? We’ve been part of high society for years, and you still talk like we just rolled in from the countryside. And for the record–it wasn’t just anyone. That was Louis Graham. The so–called golden boy of the Graham family.” He let out a heavy sigh. “It’s crazy, isn’t it? I never thought Edward was more capable than me, but when it comes to raising the next generation… there’s no comparison. Look at Louis -brilliant, strategic, and built an empire before he hit thirty. And here we are. Sebastian’s the best we’ve got, and next to Louis? It doesn’t feel like much.”

Ella wasn’t having it. “Oh, come on–what’s that supposed to mean? What exactly is wrong with Sebastian? Sure, he might not be as impressive as that Graham boy, but at least he didn’t marry someone who turns everything into a mess. Sebastian’s respectful, dependable, and he actually cares about his family. That should matter.”

Ella shot her husband a sharp look, clearly not in the mood to hear him criticize her grandson.

Isaiah scoffed. “Please. The only reason our grandkids turned out the way they did is because you spoiled them. And don’t start trash–talking his wife. From what I hear, she stuck by him through the worst of it. She even tried to make money to support him. That kind of loyalty? You don’t see that every day. Show some respect.” Isaiah let out a long, frustrated breath. “Meanwhile, our genius grandson is still running after that girl from the Scott family. She barely gives him the time of day. When did the Scotts get so important that we’re the ones bending over backward for them? And don’t even get me started on that girl–she’s all sharp rned to Ella, his voice firm. edges and hidden agendas. If we ever ran into real trouble, that family wouldn’t do a damn thing for us.” The more he spoke, the more irritated he “Talk to him. Seriously. Get him to move on. There are plenty of decent girls out there who’d actually appreciate him. He’s acting like he’s never seen a pretty face before, and that Scott girl? She’s not even all that. And even if we were, the Scott family would be last in line.” He paused, frowning. “That call from the Graham kid… it was too random. I barely know him. What the hell was he really getting at?”

And you’ve got the nerve to criticize Sebastian for liking the Scott girl? Say what you want about her, but at least she’s not out here making a fool of herself over a background role in a TV show.” She crossed her arms. “She made a big deal out of nothing, got herself trending online like it was something to be proud of. It was embarrassing. If you’re going to marry into a family like ours, you should have a strong background–or at least know how to act in public. That woman? She made herself look foolish.” Ella shook her head. “I honestly feel bad for Louis. He must’ve had terrible luck ending up with someone like that. And don’t you go doing what Edward did -don’t drag Sebastian down by pushing him toward the wrong person. When I saw that mess online, I felt embarrassed for the whole Graham family.”

“What are you talking about?” Isaiah blinked, confused.

Lately, he’d been focusing on his health and keeping a low profile. He hadn’t paid much attention to Twitter. Ever since Sebastian took over managing that side of things, everything had been running smoothly. Aside from the occasional favor for the Scott family, there hadn’t been anything worth raising concerns–so Isaiah hadn’t felt the need to stay involved. He had no idea what was going on today.
