Freya didn’t need Louis to tell her–that man was clearly Andres from the Ruby family.
As fate would have it, the people chatting with Andres at that moment were Baylon and Kendrick.
“Mr. Ruby, my grandfather asked me to bring you a gift. Let me wish you a long life and endless blessings,” Kendrick said, for once sounding surprisingly proper.
Andres chuckled. “You little rascal, your grandfather’s been so happy lately, seeing you finally start doing real work. He’s been grinning nonstop–his luck at the poker table’s improved too. He’s been winning off me like crazy.”
“Oh come on, that’s only because you let him win. You know how much he enjoys playing with you,” Kendrick replied smoothly, his banter natural and effortless.
Andres laughed heartily at his flattery and kept chatting for a while before letting him
Then it was Baylon’s turn. He greeted Andres just as warmly, but more casually. After a few words, he tugged Kendrick away to make room for others.
Louis brought Freya over. Compared to the others, he didn’t act overly formal. Andres actually seemed more enthusiastic upon seeing them.
“Ah, Freya, you’re here too? It’s been a while. That holographic online game of yours has been making waves. Compared to you, the kids in our family should really step up.”
“You flatter me, Mr. Ruby. I heard your eldest recently launched a new sonar system.idn’t he help the government recover that crashed plane the other day? I can’t compete with something like that,” Louis replied gently. His tone was warm, and the compliment was genuine.
“This must be your wife, right? She’s a lovely girl–good heart too. You two look great. together. I’m glad I pushed for this match. The good days ahead of you are just getting started.”
Andres gave Freya a quick once–over, then nodded in approval. Clearly, he was satisfied with her. Freya, a little flustered, handed over the gift box Louis had prepared for her to present.
“Mr. Ruby, this is a small gift for you. I wish you endless blessings and a long, healthy life.”
“Wonderful, such a sweet girl. I’ll gladly accept it. You two take care of each other now – go have some fun,” Andres said, waving them off. He knew Louis wasn’t one for small talk, and their families relationship didn’t depend on empty pleasantries.

Louis led Freya back toward Kendrick and Baylon, where Kendrick was muttering to Baylon.
“That old fox from the Ruby family… who knows if he’s really happy or just putting on a show. With all the scheming he does, it’s a miracle he’s lived this long.”
“Will you quit complaining already? He’s never actually schemed against our family. Name one businessperson who’s a complete innocent. Andres built an empire–you think he did it by being soft?” Baylon replied, clearly unimpressed with Kendrick’s grumbling.
“He’s just bitter because Andres once said in front of him that young people should do something meaningful with their lives,” Louis said as he walked over, ruthlessly exposing Kendrick.
Realization dawned on Baylon, and he burst out laughing. “I was wondering what got him so riled up all of a sudden.”
Kendrick wasn’t the least bit embarrassed. “Well, it’s true! He butts into everything. What I do is none of his business. He just wanted to brag about how successful his kids are. Hmph. Even if they are, they still can’t compare to big bro Louis. I don’t see what’s so great about them.”
“Why don’t you compare yourself instead? At least their eldest is more capable than you,” Baylon shot back, quick to rub salt in the wound like only a true brother could.
