After Madam Graham and Mr. Louis passed away unexpectedly, Louis had tried all kinds of chicken soup. The Graham family’s chefs–and even the maids–had tried their hand at recreating it. But none of them could replicate that taste. As Louis grew older, he stopped showing any particular fondness for chicken soup, and over time, everyone forgot about it.

Louis thought that perhaps the reason he was more tolerant of the woman in front of him was because, at times, she gave off a feeling reminiscent of Madam Graham. Or rather, it wasn’t exactly her, but the type of woman she had been.

“Why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?” Freya noticed Louis watching her so intently her heart nearly jumped out of her chest. Didn’t he realize how much pressure it put on someone to be stared at like that? Or… had he sensed something again?

“You seem to have dark circles.” Louis looked away, his tone light as he scooped a spoonful of porridge into his mouth.

“What? No way!” Freya’s eyes widened in horror. She immediately jumped up and ran to the bedroom. Dark circles? Seriously? She’d spent days fixing this body–how were they coming back already, just after finally fading?

To maintain her beauty, she had strictly forced herself to go to bed before 11:30 p.m. every night, never daring to stay up late. Knowing this body’s foundation wasn’t as strong as her previous one, she’d even cut out her favorite snacks. And now, dark circles were showing up again? What next–start going to bed at ten and live like a fairy princess sipping dew?

A shiver ran down her spine. Dear god, Louis‘ eyes are that sharp? He spotted that little trace? No wonder he never even glanced at the cannon fodder before–probably didn’t want to hurt his eyes.
