“Hey!” the elderly woman snapped. “You’re a grown woman, dressed all nice–how can you speak so nastily?” She was clearly angry now. “We were all just trying to help. Can’t take it? Fine, then go. Don’t stand here hogging public space and ruining everyone’s mood!”
“Oh yeah? Is this your private property now? You tell me to leave and I have to go?” the woman sneered. “Let me tell you, I’m not leaving. Since you’re all so eager to meddle, let’s have a good chat. Aiden shook his head repeatedly. “Forget it. I’m not going to argue with that kid anymore. Having a mom like that is punishment enough. If I keep going after him, I’ll look petty. With all that embarrassment today, he’s already miserable–I don’t need to add to it.”
“Have you lost your mind?! Isn’t this enough of a scene for you? I said one thing and you blew it into a whole mess! Next time, go out by yourself and leave me out of it! I must’ve done something awful in a past life to end up married to you! What a
