Chapter 271
The servants had already set the table, and Estelle had no choice but to stay. When everyone started talking about something else, she hurried to the bathroom and let out a sigh of relief.
She was, after all, Jonathan’s legitimate wife. Even if the Lamont family found out, it shouldn’t be a problem. Yet she couldn’t help but feeling guilty, as she was afraid that Mrs./Lamont would see through her.
And to make things worse, Jonathan kept dropping hints, as if he didn’t care if someone found out.
Estelle turned on the faucet, washed her face, and when she lowered her head, she heard the door creak behind her. She looked up and was instantly taken aback by the reflection of the man in the mirror.
The man was leaning against the wooden door lazily, watching her.
Estelle spun around, staring at the man with wide eyes. He was just out of his mind, coming in like this when they were at the first floor of the house, where Mrs. Lamont and Norah could easily walk in.
Jonathan approached her, his tall figure pressed against her, forcing her to lean back. He asked in a casual tone, “Ms. Macclain hasn’t answered my question earlier. How do you know if we click, huh?”
Estelle tilted her head slightly, her face covered in water droplets, just like the morning petals covered in dew, crystal clear and transparent.
Her clear eyes were filled with a mixture of innocence and a hint of nervousness and annoyance.
“Hmm?” The man leaned down, resting his arms on the sink, never taking his eyes off hers.
His imposing presence made the air in the bathroom stagnant. Estelle whispered, “Don’t make a scene. Norah knows I’m in the bathroom, and I can’t be in here for too long!”
Jonathan leaned down and bit her slightly damp lips, and murmured, “Answer my question, and I’ll let you go.”
Estelle’s face turned pale, the water droplet rolling down her delicate neck. The man slightly looked away, his eyes growing darker.
“Jonathan,” Estelle spoke softly.
The man paid no attention, leaning down to kiss her jawline.
Estelle glanced at the door, fearing that someone might walk by and see them despite the frosted glass.
Jonathan finally let her go, took two steps back, and walked out.
Once the door was closed, Estelle leaned against the sink. She was so limp that she almost fell down.
Suddenly, the knocking on the door startled Estelle, making her straighten up immediately.
