Chapter 10~ New CEO
“Good morning, Miss Lora.” The staff greeted Lora warmly.
“Good morning,” Lora responded with a smile.
Lora arrived at the Davis & Co. company to take over from her father.
She wore a light blue feminine business suit with high heels. Her hair was left to flow down her shoulders, giving her a boss lady vibe.
“Miss Davis, you’re needed in the conference room,” her assistant, Hannah Collins, reported. She then moved closer and whispered, “All the board members are here and they don’t look happy.”
Lora frowned. She knew why they wanted to see her. How bold of them to show their disapproval of her on her first day of reporting.
“I knew this would happen, that’s why I came prepared,” she remarked and smirked. They wouldn’t get rid of her that easily.
No offense, Mr Davis but your daughter came out of nowhere and you want her to take over the company? I know she’s your family but aren’t you being too careless? How can I be sure that my investment is safe in this company?”
Lora had barely reached the door of the conference room when she heard someone say this.
It wasn’t hard to tell from the voice, he was one of the board members, Craig Hendrix.
Inside the conference room, Jack Davis furrowed his eyebrows at the man’s words. He was about to reply but Lora came in before he could.
“Good morning everyone. Hope I am not too late,” Lora said with an air of confidence.
Seeing Lora walk in, Jack Davis smiled.
Although he only found Lora six years ago, he knew his daughter well. Lora is definitely not someone to be at the mercy of others. She could hold her own.
Lora looked at Craig and responded, “I understand your concerns and this is why, I plan to launch a new design of jewelry that I’m a hundred percent sure will become a best seller.”
Craig scoffed. He remarked, “We have so many designers in our company. What makes you think your design will be special?”
Lora just smiled and replied, “Please trust me… I’ll launch the design soon and then, we can have this discussion to ascertain my skills.”
The other board members nodded in agreement. After all, they couldn’t completely oppose since Lora was the CEO’s daughter.
However, Craig sneered. He remarked, “Launching a new design is not enough. We want to know what you will do to expand the company and make us more profit.”
Lora frowned. It seemed Craig was picking a bone with her for some reason.
She forced a smile and said, “Would a partnership with the Kingsley group be of satisfaction to you?”
Craig arched his eyebrows and they almost reached his hairline. He scoffed and uttered, “You must be joking. You’ve never even worked before, why would the CEO of the Kingsley group agree to cooperate with you?”
“I already have an offer from him, Mr Hendrix. Once I sign the contract, I wish to be left alone to work in peace, deal?” Lora stated.
Craig huffed in frustration. He realised he no longer had a reason to oppose and sat back in his chair.
When the meeting was over, Jack looked at his daughter and uttered, “I’m sorry… Craig has a lot of influence and he must have had another candidate in mind for the position.”
