Chapter 9 The Twins
“What did Ryan Kingsley want? I saw him grab your arm,” Jason asked as he drove Lora back home.
He had a gentle smile on his face, but deep inside, he was seething. Lora and him had met while she was abroad six years ago and he had been pursuing her ever since.
Jason had been there for her and helped her out whenever she needed a friend or someone to lean on.
However, Lora hadn’t rejected him and neither had she accepted him. Since he never openly spoke about his feelings, she never said anything about it either.
Seeing another man get interested in her made him a bit anxious.
Lora sighed at Jason’s question. That encounter with Ryan made her feel unpleasant. She gave Jason a sideways glance and replied, “A partnership.”
“Did you accept?” Jason asked in a low voice. Without realising, he tightened his hold around the steering wheel as he anxiously waited for Lora’s answer. His knuckles turned white from how tightly he gripped
the wheel.
“I told him I’ll think about it…” Lora said and looked out the window as they approached the building where her apartment was located.
Even though she had returned to her family, she still preferred to stay alone.
She recalled her conversation with Ryan and a flicker of hatred flashed through her eyes.
Six years ago, if it wasn’t for her parents rescuing her in the nick of time, she would have died in that explosion.
Anger bubbled up within her at the reminder of how ruthless Ryan was.
‘He dares to compare me to Larisa Bennett… that woman died six years ago,‘ she said in her mind.
“Lora, we’re here.” Jason’s words interrupted Lora’s musings. He turned to look at her and added, “How I wish the drive was longer.”
Lora chuckled and replied, “Thank you for sending me back, Jason. I had a great time tonight.”
“Can I come up? I would like to say hi to the little ones, Jason asked and Lora turned to look at him.
Jason was always kind and considerate. He had always been by her side and protected her. There were times when she thought of giving him a chance, however, being in a relationship wasn’t Lora’s priority at
the moment.
She smiled and answered, “It’s late, Jay. You can meet them later… Goodnight.”
Although Jason was disappointed, he didn’t show it. Instead, he nodded and replied, “That’s right… it’s not appropriate. I’ll meet them tomorrow with some gifts.”
Lora smiled at him and left his car before going up to her apartment.
Meanwhile, inside Lora’s apartment.
“Ethan, is this handsome uncle our daddy?” Ella sat next to her brother, Ethan, looking at the tablet in
Ethan’s hand and asked innocently.
The two had been watching the live stream of their mother’s introduction party when they happened to see a man who looked like an older version of Ethan.
