The doctor had followed the couple in and while she was making preps for the delivery, Lora could already feel the baby’s head about to come out of her.

Her eyes widened. Why was it so fast? The first time she gave birth, she had been in labour for two days!

She looked at her husband and exclaimed, “The baby is here! Mmm!”

Ryan’s forehead was coated with beads of sweat. He glanced at the doctor and realised that she would take a few more seconds to reach Lora, so he acted fast.

He stood in front of Lora, unaware of what he should do. Recalling some TV shows that he had watched, he placed his hands near Lora’s entrance and just as the clock struck midnight and fireworks exploded in the sky, a little baby dropped on Ryan’s hands. The doctor quickly came forward and cut the cord and the baby released a sharp, piercing scream.

Ryan froze, his heart racing as he stared down at the tiny, wriggling little human in his hands. He was staring at the world's most beautiful creature.

“It’s… It’s a girl,” he said, still in shock. However, he held his baby girl carefully as if he was scared that she would break in his arms.

A smile crossed his lips and his heart felt full as he stared at the little bundle of joy that was a product of love.

“You can place her on the mother’s chest now,” the doctor instructed and Ryan did so, his heart racing hard against his ribcage.

He still felt like he was dreaming. He had helped deliver his baby girl with his own hands.

Tears rolled down Lora’s cheeks as she held her daughter. She looked at Ryan and remarked, “You did it, honey…”

Lora frowned again and said, “I can feel the second one. He’s already here too!”

The nurses were quick to get the baby from Lora for a clean up whole Ryan stayed put, wanting to deliver his son as well.

Since Ryan wanted to, the doctor let him be and just monitored him while giving Lora instructions.

“Ok, Mrs Kingsley, I want you to push at the count of three….”

When he checked for crowning, the doctor instructed, “One, two, three… PUSH!”

Lora pushed with all her might and minutes later, Ryan was holding another baby in his hands, a healthy cry echoing through the ward.

Warmth spread through Ryan's heart. He never experienced being there when his first children were born, now that he did, he couldn't help shedding a few tears.

Ryan sniffed back his tears as he remarked, “It’s a boy.”

Lora threw her head back, crying in relief as she exclaimed, “Our twins are here, Ryan. Our new year blessings.”

Ryan placed the baby boy on Lora’s chest. He then bent down and kissed Lora’s forehead, saying, “I love you so much, Lora. Thank you for giving birth to our children.”

A little while later, the babies were clean and swaddled. Lora was now allowed to have visitors and the rest of the family didn’t hesitate to fill her ward.
