“Ma’am, Mr Anderson really loves you… you’re already dating but he’s still sending you flowers. And these look different than the usual… they look expensive,” Hannah Collins, Lora’s assistant, remarked.
Lora glanced at the flowers in the vase near her desk, her heart doing a little flip. She too had thought it was Jason who sent her the flowers. However, since the sender was daring enough to claim to be her husband, it could only be Ryan.
“These are not from Jason. They are from Ryan,” Lora replied and Hannah’s eyes rounded.
“Mr Kingsley sent you flowers? Are you two-?”
“No, we are not. Don’t you have work to do, Hannah?” Lora asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
“I do… but I just thought that maybe you and Mr Kingsley reconciled and that’s why he’s sending you flowers,” Hannah remarked.
“No, we did not. Although we are friends now, I can’t be with him again. He was with Ivy after all,” Lora remarked, sadness creeping into her.
Although she could see that Ryan had changed, she couldn’t forget that he had been with Ivy for the last six years. That was a fact that wouldn’t go away.
"I think you can give Mr Kingsley a chance since he got rid of that scheming woman-"
"Hannah, can we not talk about Ryan? I have a lot of things to do," Lora interrupted, her eyebrows creasing.
She wanted to avoid that topic as much as possible because it only brought confusion.
Meanwhile, on the other part of the city, Ryan glanced at his assistant and asked, “Did you deliver the flowers to Lora?”
“Yes, I did, Sir,” Lawrence responded.
Ryan checked his phone for the umpteenth time and frowned. He looked at Lawrence and asked again, “Did you get the address right?”
“Yes, Sir. I sent the flowers to Davis & Co. and they’ve been delivered to Miss Davis,” Lawrence replied.
‘Why isn’t she saying anything if she’s received the flowers?’ Ryan asked himself, his heart sinking to the pits of his stomach.
As if he could read his boss’ mind, Lawrence suggested, “Why don’t you call her to find out what she thinks about you sending her flowers?”
Ryan’s eyes lit up. He replied, “You’re right. I’ll call her.”
Unfortunately, when Ryan tried to call Lora, her phone went unanswered, making Ryan’s stomach twist and turn.
‘Is she avoiding me?’ He asked in his mind. Chasing after his wife was certainly not easy.
A knock at the door brought him back to the present.
“Come in,” he said and the doors opened, revealing Diane, his young sister.
“Bro, I know you’re a workaholic but you’re on bed rest. You weren’t supposed to come for work,” Diane stated, a frown crossing her face.
“I need to put a few things in order before I take my leave,” Ryan said. “I might take some time to return, so I have to settle things here first.”
