Lora had been unable to work after receiving flowers from one Ryan Kingsley.
It didn’t help that the fragrance of the roses kept spreading through her office, a reminder of Ryan’s odd actions.
It was shocking.
Ryan? Sending flowers?
He wasn’t one to do that.
As a handsome, rich man, Ryan wasn’t the type to grovel at anyone’s feet. He took what he wanted, when he wanted. So, Lora was caught off guard when he surprised her with red roses of premium quality.
Could he have hit his head when he saved her last time?
Lora was deep in her thoughts when she received a call from Aiden Davis.
“Hello, kiddo. I’ll be leaving for a few weeks, wanna come out for lunch? My treat,” Aiden said on the phone.
Lora’s eyes lit up. Perhaps her favorite uncle would help to keep her mind off a certain someone.
She quickly got to her feet and left the office but she didn’t expect to run into Lewis Hendrix.
The man looked like a dangerous thug. His eyes were cold and full of hatred for Lora as he glared at her.
“Can I help you?” Lora asked, arching an eyebrow.
Although she wasn’t scared of the man, her heart couldn’t help but race at the murderous intent that was flashing through his eyes.
After the kidnapping incident, she had gotten leave to get over her shock and took the opportunity to nurse Ryan back to health. During that time, Lewis ran things at the company since he was already familiar with it.
Lora was about to thank him when he spat at her. “I hate people like you who want to reap where they did not sow. You don’t need to work hard to have something as it’s easily delivered to you on a silver platter. Why didn’t you stay out of company affairs and leave them to men who could handle it? You’re better off being Ryan Kingsley’s little bitch.”
Lora furrowed her eyebrows and clenched her hands into fists. She knew Lewis was behind the shipment loss the last time but she let the incident go for the sake of the work he contributed to the company.
How dare he disrespect her in her own company?
She didn’t have time to argue with a crazy person. However, Lewis seemed to be out of his mind that day as he continued to berate Lora.
“You don’t deserve that position. I’ll do whatever it takes to drag you down- Argh!”
Before Lora could tell what was happening, Lewis’ words were cut off by a hard punch to his face, tilting his head to the side.
Her eyes widened when she saw Ryan glaring at Lewis, his warning words lingering in her mind.
“Stay away from my woman. She’s your boss, not your friend,” Ryan hissed and Lewis quickly walked away.
A whistle brought Lora back to the present just as Diane came into view.
