Charlotte didn't expect that Brian had heard of it.

She raised her brows. "Oh, you've heard of it? That makes this easier.

"Yes, it's exactly that."

She explained, "Your test results and the toxin data show nothing special. The poison is deadly, but any competent doctor could have neutralized it.

"The real power of that poison is that it triggers a parasite that nests inside your body. The parasite has been affecting your optic nerves, which is why you keep going blind."

"Oh my God, a parasite?" Henry blanched. "Dr. Mandy, you mean it's alive?"

Charlotte nodded. "Amazing, isn't it? People say the technique was lost, but it still exists, just very rarely. The parasite is the fine white thread on the CT near the optic nerve."

Henry was stunned. "Dr. Mandy, please tell me you're not making this up. Parasites belong in TV dramas, not real life!"

Charlotte shot him a look. "Who says everything on TV is fake? Ancient records mention many families in the southwest who were skilled with parasites. Some even used them for healing.

"The technique declined, but it never completely disappeared. Hidden clans still pass it down. Some still keep these parasites."

Henry was shaken to his core. "Unbelievable! It really exists!"

Brian, by contrast, remained calm. It wasn't a surprise that he knew such things.

Charlotte wasn't surprised. The Normans were no ordinary family, after all—they were heirs of a long lineage, much like the Howards in old medicine lore.

However, she didn't need to say that out loud.

After the brief explanation, she looked at Brian in puzzlement. "Mr. Norman, who did you offend that they would use something so vicious?"

Neither Brian nor Henry spoke, and a heavy silence fell between them.

Charlotte continued, "The parasite has been in you a long time. It's hardy and adapted to your body, so your eyes keep getting worse."

Charlotte had no affection whatsoever for her scumbag ex-husband.
