Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 64

Amber had to admit it. Her mommy's ex-husband looked a little handsome today. Especially when he stepped in to protect her, he gave her a sense of security.

Fine. Maybe she could grudgingly give him a bit of credit.

Amber lifted her chin, her voice soft and sweet as she said, "Thank you for helping me today, Mr. Norman."

Brian heard her formal tone, and the corners of his lips lifted slightly. "You're welcome. This happened because of Kayden, after all. But I'm curious… Why did no one from your family show up?"

He couldn't make sense of it. Something this serious had happened, yet no one from her side had come to check on her. If Kayden had not called him, she might have been left alone to face the bullying.

Only then did Amber remember. She had called her mommy. If Charlotte walked in, she would come face-to-face with her ex-husband.

Panic flashed across Amber's face. She was just about to find an excuse to step outside and make a call. The moment she looked up, she froze. Her mommy was already there.

Amber's mouth fell open. She had no time to react. She could only watch helplessly as Charlotte walked straight into the room.

"Amber." The moment Charlotte entered, she called out for her daughter, worry clear in her voice. But the word barely left her lips before she felt as if the ground beneath her had cracked wide open.

Standing right there in front of Amber was Brian. Amber was standing so close to him while Brian gently ruffled her hair with his broad palm.

Charlotte stood frozen, stunned, wondering if she had walked into the wrong room. Why on earth was this man here?

At the same moment, Brian narrowed his eyes, sensing something familiar in the voice that had spoken. Though he could not see who it was, something about the tone felt familiar.
