Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 68

Brian could easily hear the bitterness in her voice. There was no mistaking the resentment behind her words.

It was only much later, after their divorce, that he learned what had happened. He learned that she was accused of pushing Lydia and was forced out by the Perry family because of it.

Her tone made it clear she had never let go of those memories.

He hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. "About what happened with the Perry family back then—"

Charlotte cut him off sharply before he could finish.

"Can we not talk about the Perry family? You're really killing the mood. I know you've always been on good terms with them, but there's no need to defend them in front of me. Whether it's the Perry family or you, as far as I'm concerned, all of that is in the past. I have no interest in hearing about it."

She assumed he was speaking on their behalf, attempting to justify what they had done. Her emotions surged, and she lost control for a moment, cutting him off before he could explain.

But that was not Brian's intention at all. He had meant to tell her that he had looked into the matter himself afterward.

However, after hearing her sharp rejection, his expression turned grim. He gave up on saying anything more.

The tension inside the car grew heavier, weighing down the space between them.

Brian's voice turned harsh. "Is that really what you believe?"

Charlotte replied with a cold sneer. "What else am I supposed to believe?"

She turned to face him, her eyes filled with disdain. "Shall I remind you, Mr. Norman? Back then, in order to marry Lydia and secure a proper match, you had no problem divorcing me. Have you forgotten that so easily?"

Every word she spoke was sharp, cutting deep.

Brian's expression grew even uglier. His face tightened, and his lips were pressed into a hard line.
