Corinna
A faint beeping reaches my ears as the darkness engulfing me slowly begins to fade, blinking my eyes a few times before I finally force them to open regardless of the blinding fluorescent lightening.
After seconds of soft shuffling, Kai picks himself off his seat next to my hospital bed to help me sit up. When he readjusts the pillows behind me, he walks to the portable table as the foot of the bed to pour me a cup of water from the plastic jug that has left a ring of condensation on the light wood.
" Is the baby okay? " I whisper, my voice cracks as I do.
Handing me the small cup of water, Kai places himself on the edge of the bed beside me. " Jen said the baby is fine, heart beat is strong but she also said that you can't do anymore spells that wipe you out like that. " He informs me.
Nodding my head, I gulp down half of the water in my hand. " I.. How long was I out? " I mumble.
" Coming up on three days. " He sighs, it's only now that I notice how exhausted he looks. Deep bags weigh under his slightly bloodshot blue eyes, his skin is paler than usual, his shoulder length hair is gathered into a lose and messy bun at the back of his head.
" You haven't slept at all? " I ask him, to which he just shakes his head, confirming my thoughts. " Have you fed? "
" We ran out of our blood supply yesterday, I was going to send Olive and Phoenix to collect some if you didn't wake up by tonight. " He tells me, gripping my free hand.
" I'm sorry. " I mutter, looking down at our hands.
" Don't scare me like that again. " He whispers, squeezing my hand affectionately.
" I won't. Are we going home soon? " I question, making a small smile grace his face. " What? "
He shrugs. " Nothing, I just like hearing you call my house your home, my darling. "
Rolling my eyes, I raise an eyebrow at him. " Well? Can we go home? Or do we still have to sit in meeting rooms for hours on end arguing with the wolves of this pack? "
" Actually, after what you did for their Luna, this pack - for the most part, have completely changed their feelings toward you. Alpha Jack and Gia came to visit once we knew you and the baby we're all good, we came to an agreement to be allied with one another. If they need our help, we'll be there and visa versa, we're all welcome on each other's lands and everything in between, it's not just about peace, it's about friendship. " He explains, giving me a warm smile.
