Read My Past is Just Prologue By Louisa Dillon Chapter 142 – Get Distracted at the Critical Moment
“Why are you smiling?”
Janet frowned slightly and turned to look at the person who disturbed her.
Nigel covered his mouth and coughed. He smiled, “It’s nothing. I just find that you are cute when you are serious.”
“Not funny.” Janet rolled her eyes at Nigel and continued to listen.
Nigel leaned forward and whispered into her ear, “Are you that interested? Actually, if you want it, as the designer, I can open the backdoor
for you…”
“Stop.” Janet made a “stop” gesture and said seriously, “I want to represent the Longfellow Group and myself to win the project with my ability. Don’t do anything.”
Hearing this, Nigel raised his hand to rub Janet’s hair. The softness stunned him. Before she came back to her senses and slapped his hand, he withdrew his hand in time.
“Janet, you hurt my heart. You are so competitive; how can I show my ability?”
Nigel covered his chest and pretended to be heartbroken.
“Don’t be dramatic. What are you going to show?” Janet glanced at him.
Nigel blinked at her with a doting smile. “I want you to take a shortcut. But then again, if you want it, you can just design something better. Why do you want to waste the money on my software?”
“I don’t bother to design it.”
Janet spread her hands and leaned back, leisurely saying. “I just want a ready-made one. Anything wrong with that?”
“No! How about I redesign one for you for free? Treat it as my betrothal gift.”
Nigel stared straight at her. There was a hint of anticipation in his eyes. His narrow eyes looked attractive. If not for the fact that Janet had known him for many years and that she was utterly calm, she would have been mesmerized by these eyes.
She did not avoid his gaze. Instead, she looked into his eyes and said a single word.
“Scram.”
“Alright. I’ll scram now,” Nigel answered heartlessly with a smile.
The two used to get along like this. One was talkative while the other was aloof. This scene made Janet feel as if she had returned to the
past.
Not far away, Nathaniel had been staring at the two people who were intimately interacting with each other, and his expression was getting
gloomier.
Alfred was sitting next to him and looked at Nathaniel’s gloomy face. He felt as if a storm was on its way.
It was abnormal!
Nathaniel was a famous workaholic, and no matter what happened, he would put work his priority, not to mention that the software was
something he wanted.
At the critical moment, he was distracted to look at Janet.
Alfred didn’t believe that Nathaniel didn’t like her.
The interaction between Janet and Nigel was eye-catching for even a bystander like him. After all the man was handsome and the woman
was beautiful which made them look like a couple.
