My Past is Just Prologue (Janet and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189 I Don’t Need It
The seat next to them.
Nathaniel couldn’t help but be surprised when he heard a familiar female voice coming from the side.
Gilbert invited him here for a drink, but he didn’t expect that he would sit next to Janet.
“Nathaniel, what are you walling for? Let’s drink.”
Gilbert knocked on the cup in front of Nathaniel only to see the subtle expression in Nathaniel’s eyes as if he was listening to something attentively.
“What are you listening to?” Gilbert asked with a puzzled lace.
Seeing that Nathaniel didn’t pay attention to him, Gilbert also listened with attention. Only then did he realize that something was wrong. and he muttered, “Why does this voice sound so familiar…”
Gilbert couldn’t help but take a peek, and he was surprised. “What a coincidence! Isn’t that…”
Nathaniel hurried to stop him, but it was too late.
Hearing the noise, Janet and Ann turned their eyes.
Nathaniel accidentally knocked over the screen, because he was trying to stop Gilbert.
At the moment when their eyes met, a trace of uneasiness flashed across Nathaniel’s face. However, he reacted quickly. After letting go of Gilbert, Nathaniel tidied up his clothes and stood calmly, returning to his usual cold attitude.
It was an embarrassing moment.
Gilbert looked at Nathaniel and then looked at Janet and Ann. He smiled awkwardly, “Sorry, ladies. It was a mistake.”
Ann was stunned for two seconds. She looked at Janet. Seeing that Janet looked calm, Ann was relieved.
“Jill, I didn’t do it,” Ann explained, though her response was a little weak.
“Of course I believe in you. I just feel that someone is haunting me.” Janet said with a slight smile.
Obviously, she referred to Nathaniel.
Nathaniel couldn’t help but frown when he heard this, “You are thinking too much. It was just a coincidence.”
“Mr. Webster, are you saying that you coincidentally eavesdropped? A gentleman usually doesn’t do that.” Janet raised her eyebrows and glanced at Nathaniel.
Nathaniel couldn’t help but show a cold expression when he heard this.
Seeing this, Gilbert quickly stepped forward to smooth things over with a smile.
*Jill you misunderstood. Nathaniel and I just happened to be here. I really didn’t know that you were next door! It’s my fault…”
Gilbert’s words made Janet frown.
Before Gilbert could finish, Janet interrupted him in a low voice, “Mr. Steele, I have nothing to do with Nathaniel, and I guess we’re not that close. You should call me by my name or Ms. Longfellow.”
Gilbert wasn’t annoyed, but he showed a subtle smile, looking at Nathaniel.
It seemed that Nathaniel still had a long way to go before he got Janet back.
“Are you in such a hurry to clear your relationship with me?” Nathaniel asked, he sounded unhappy.
However, Nathaniel’s question was only met with a sneer from Janet, who didn’t want to waste any more time with him.
“Ann, let’s go.”
Janet took her purse and pulled Ann to leave.
Seeing that she was about to leave, Nathaniel felt an inexplicable sense of urgency. He couldn’t help but call her, “Janet, I can help you if you need an ambassador.”
“No need.” Janet paused in her steps.
Hearing this, Nathaniel frowned and said, “Janet, is it necessary to get angry with me with the APP that you have won the bid so difficult? Don’t you want to run the Longfellow Group well? Don’t be so emotional.”
“Is there a need for me to get angry with you?” Janet thought it was funny and looked at him. Her eyes were cold and distant. “Mr. Webster, you think too highly of yourself. I just don’t want to have anything to do with you. I don’t need your help.”
Nathaniel was furious. He had offered his help out of good intentions, but he had been scolded by Janet. He was also in a mood now.
“Up to you!”
After saying that. Nathaniel turned around and left. He decided to let Janet hit the wall by herself.
Jill Nathaniel really wants to help you. It’s just that he’s a little impatient. How about…” Gilbert still wanted to give Nathaniel a few nice words, but when he received Janet’s cold gaze, he quickly shut his mouth.
Gilbert felt Janet was going to kill him.
He didn’t expect that Janet would change so much after the divorce.
“Then enjoy yourselves, I’ll go and see Nathaniel!” after saying this, Gilbert rushed out.
Looking at Gilbert’s back, Janet was a little speechless.
He was as stubborn as Nathaniel. Janet had already told Gilbert not to call her “Jill”.
Ann whispered, “Actually, Jill, it doesn’t matter if you accept Nathaniel’s help. It’s a matter of urgency.”
“I don’t need it,” Janet said in a deep voice.
Janet wasn’t angry about anything, but she really didn’t need it and didn’t want his help.
On the other hand, Nathaniel hadn’t gone far outside the bar, so as soon as Gilbert chased him out, he saw Nathaniel. Nathaniel hadn’t smoked for a long time, but he lit a cigarette. He was so agitated that even the light smoke couldn’t hide it.
“Nathaniel, don’t be depressed. She…”
Before Gilbert could finish, Nathaniel extinguished the cigarette and asked him, “You know some artists, right?”
Gilbert was stunned for two seconds, and then he nodded.
“Introduce some influential celebrities to Janet.”
Then, Nathaniel added, “Don’t say that I told you to do that.”
Hearing this, Gilbert widened his eyes.
“Do you think it’s a charity? How can Janet know your Intentions if I don’t tell her?”
“Don’t be so long-winded. Hurry up!” Nathaniel pulled his hair in frustration.
