Chapter 197 He Can’t Wrap His Head Around It
Janet had long disliked Nathaniel’s inexplicable self–confidence.
Nathaniel was stunned on the spot. He was about to speak, but Janet talked again with a domineering look in her eyes.
“Since you insist on getting an explanation, I won’t hide It from you. Nigel is my man!”
Nigel was stunned.
Nigel’s eyes were filled with disbelief and tenderness as he looked at Janet in excitement with a racing heart.
Nathaniel was also completely stunned. A moment later, he felt furious!
Nathaniel glared straight at Janet.
“Are you serious?”
Janet didn’t flinch, looking at Nathaniel with indifference in her eyes.
“Yes, is there a problem?”
Nathaniel’s hand clenched into a fist in an instant. He could not wrap his head around it.
Nathaniel didn’t think Nigel was worthy of Janet.
He glanced back at Nigel. In Nathaniel’s opinion, Nigel wasn’t as handsome as he was, nor did Nigel have good taste like him. And Nigel was so weak that he knelt down after being punched a few times by Nathaniel although he didn’t use much strength.
However, Nigel hit hard on Nathaniel with each punch targeting his vital organs. Nathaniel didn’t even say a word about it. Nathaniel just didn’t understand what Janet liked about Nigel. Was she blind?
Nathaniel didn’t dwell on this. Instantly, he looked cold and ruthless again.
Nathaniel put on a mockery smile.
“You really have bad taste in men.”
After finishing speaking, he turned around and strode away.
Looking at Nathaniel’s back, Janet didn’t want to admit it, but she did feel heartache. She tried her best to compose herself. Just as she was about to ask about Nigel’s injury, he spoke first.
“Jill, what you said just now… Did you mean it?”
His eyes were filled with anticipation.
Right now, Nigel looked completely different from his usual rebellious and unruly appearance. Even Nigel himself did not notice that because he was too nervous. His hands were clenched into fists, his palms sweating.
Not noticing his being nervous, Janet apologized calmly.
“I’m sorry. It happened suddenly, and I used you as an excuse just now. I did that to protect you. I didn’t mean what I said. Don’t take it seriously. I’ll go buy medicine to treat your wounds.”
Disappointment flashed across Nigel’s eyes. He pursed his lips. When Janet turned around to go to the pharmacy, he grabbed her.
While Janet was in a daze, Nigel sincerely looked straight into her eyes.
“I have transferred my business to Raleigh.”
Janet opened her mouth and wanted to joke, but in the end, she only spat out one word.
“Congratulations.”
However, she knew that Nigel had more to say.
Sure enough, Nigel did not give her the chance to play dumb this time. “Jill, I came here for you. I want to see you every day. I… like you.”
On such a breezy evening, Janet was a little touched to hear Nigel’s gentle words. But she looked at him again and took two steps back.
They had been friends for many years.
Janet was not a fool. She knew that Ann wanted Janet to be with Nigel. Moreover, Nigel joked about his feelings for her earlier. But Janet
never took it to heart.
Yet today…
Janet pinched her fingers and said without hesitation, “Sorry, I didn’t know that you have a crush on me. If I knew…”
“You’d have turned me down early and made me give up, right?”
Nigel’s face was full of sadness.
Janet nodded. “No matter what, I have no intention of starting a new relationship now. I don’t intend to hide it from you. I hope that you can meet the girl you really like.”
Janet had suffered a lot when it came to relationships, so she did not want to hurt others.
To her understanding. It was easier to settle it in advance than something had happened. It was also the method she could think of to reduce the harm to Nigel to the minimum.
Nigel refused to give up.
“If I can win the International Hacking Competition, can you … give me a chance?
“Just treat it as motivation for me. OK?
“You can refuse me, but don’t shake your head…”
Nigel who had always been unruly, seemed to be abandoned at this moment. He looked at Janet with eager eyes.
They fell into silence.
