Chapter 245 How Much Do You Want?
Nathaniel didn’t leave Janet’s ward even after it was dark.
Meanwhile, Janet’s driver and bodyguard ran to the hospital, gasping for breath.
Janet’s driver and bodyguard were unfriendly to Nathaniel Although they thanked
Nathaniel, they saw Nathaniel as a dangerous person and didn’t let down their guard.
They tried to sound nice and asked Nathaniel to leave, suggesting that they would take
care of Janet.
Nathaniel didn’t want to waste his time with them. Thus, Nathaniel gave Alfred a
knowing look. Alfred immediately got that. The next moment, Alfred and the other men
forced Janet’s bodyguard and driver to leave.
Nathaniel couldn’t believe that after the accident there were only two left to protect
Janet. Nathaniel complained in his mind, how careless Janet’s bodyguards are!
It was possible that Janet’s men were working with the mercenaries as accomplices.
Nathaniel’s face darkened. After Janet’s bodyguards and driver were driven away.
Nathaniel returned to Janet’s ward.
Janet had already woken up and was staring at her hands in a daze.
Nathaniel walked up to Janet unconsciously Nathaniel had many questions. He wanted
to ask Janet why she would be in danger. However, at this moment, Nathaniel was lost.
for words.
Janet felt as if she were still dreaming as Nathaniel came toward her.
At first, none of them spoke. It was Nathaniel who broke the silence. “How do
now?”
you feel
Janet nodded and answered hoarsely, “I’m fine…
After a pause, Janet suddenly asked, “Wait, why are you here?”
Janet remembered that she called her emergency contact. Beacher or one of Beacher’s
men was supposed to be here, not Nathaniel.
“You called me.” Nathaniel stared at Janet and caught Janet’s look of shock. “You aren’t
using the domestic cell phone number, are you?”
Nathaniel reminded Janet of that.
Janet had two cell phones listed in her name. Since Janet divorced Nathaniel, she hadn’t used the cell phone that was registered abroad. Therefore, Janet forgot that she had listed Nathaniel as the emergency contact.
Slightly embarrassed, Janet had mixed feelings.
After all, Nathaniel and Janet were no longer a couple. And Janet promised that she would never contact Nathaniel again. However, Janet forgot to change the emergency contact person.
Moreover, Janet was surprised that Nathaniel would come to her rescue because of the
call.
Janet still remembered Nathaniel’s face before she blacked out.
As Janet recalled, Nathaniel was like an angry beast, whose eyes turned red with rage.
Though Janet wasn’t quite certain, she had no intention of confirming it with Nathaniel.
Janet didn’t want to have anything to do with Nathaniel anymore, but ironically, things didn’t go the way she wanted.
Thinking of this, Janet couldn’t help but smile bitterly, “Thank you for saving me.”
Nathaniel said nothing. He glanced at Janet several times without being noticed.
Nathaniel was dying to ask Janet about her pregnancy, but he didn’t know how to ask her.
Nathaniel’s relationship with Janet had been strained because of what happened between them. If Nathaniel brought it up now, it might make things worse.
Before Alfred could find out what had happened to Janet, Nathaniel decided not to ask anything about it.
Nathaniel was lost in thought. And Janet didn’t know what Nathaniel was thinking. After a moment of silence, Janet said.
“Actually, I had the wrong number. I didn’t mean to disturb you. I owe you a lot this time. How much do you want? I can write you a check when I’m discharged.”
Janet meant every word she said.
All Janet wanted was to return the favor.
However, Nathaniel got it all wrong.
Clenching his fists, Nathaniel felt humiliated.
Before they got divorced, Nathaniel believed that Janet had married him because of his
money.
It was the other way around.
Nathaniel didn’t expect Janet to blow him off with the money.
Looking into Janet’s serious face, however, Nathaniel thought that he might have
misunderstood Janet.
Janet seemed that she wanted to keep a distance from Nathaniel rather than humiliate
him.
The thought upset Nathaniel.
Nathaniel tried not to pull a long face. “We’ll talk about that later,” Nathaniel said coldly.
Janet silently looked away. She didn’t want to talk to Nathaniel.
When Nathaniel looked at Janett in her hospital gown, he relented. Nathaniel didn’t want to have a fight with Janet. “Are you hungry? If you wanna eat something, I can get you
some food,” Nathaniel asked.
Janet frowned imperceptibly and blushed. “No, I’m fine, but… Can you get me an orderly, please?” she stammered.
Nathaniel thought, what an ungrateful woman!
Without noticing Janet’s expression, Nathaniel felt angry.
Nathaniel secretly complained, I need to calm down. I can’t argue with a patient…
Nathaniel fought his urge to throw a fit and said in a mocking tone, “What? You don’t
trust me? I can do whatever an orderly can do.”
Janet was also irritated by Nathaniel’s aggressive tone. She raised her eyebrows and
retorted angrily, “I wanna pee. Will you help me?”
Nathaniel was dumbfounded. Then he turned his face away at once.
A hot flush flared in Nathaniel’s cheeks and trickled down his neck. Before Janet could
notice that, Nathaniel hurried out of the ward and said awkwardly, “Wait a second.”
Watching Nathaniel leave, Janet closed her eyes in frustration.
