She continued, “I think we should let Lexi choose. The nanny should be someone Lexi likes.” 

Samson nodded. “That’s true. If Lexi doesn’t like them, it’s pointless to hire them. That’s thoughtful.”

Samson recalled what Lexi had said the night before and repeated it to Linda.

“If I can’t protect my own child, then I don’t deserve to be Lexi’s mother.” 

There was a glint of coldness in her eyes.
