Samson said, “What you’ve said to my child is enough to influence her as it is. If I wanted to sue you, i would definitely win. 

“Now that it’s almost the end of the year, I don’t want trouble, and I don’t want my child to be affected either. I’m being merciful by firing you. Besides, I’m even giving you a month’s salary. You should be groveling to me in thankfulness.” 

Nancy hadn’t expected Samson to be so ruthless. 

“You two are bullies!” She ran off. 

Linda was amused. “That was kind of fun.” 

“From the day I first met her, I didn’t think she was suited to taking care of Lexi. I didn’t expect to be proven right.” Chloe had appeared out of nowhere. Heating her speak made Linda jump in fright. 

“Why have you come here all of a sudden?” 

Chloe went to sit down on the sofa. “I took on a custom order some time ago, and my client happens to live in this area. I just finished taking the measurements, and it’s too rushed for me to go back now. I came to ask if I can sleep over here.” 

Samson went to the kitchen to pour her a glass of water. “Sure. Make yourself at home.” 

“Where’s Lexi?” Chloe took a sip of water and looked around. 

“The nanny’s giving her a bath upstairs.” 

“It’s only about 7:00 pm. Is she already getting a shower and going to bed?” 

“Do you think that children live like you? Do you think they don’t sleep at night and can’t keep their eyes open during the day?” Linda’s brow furrowed when she thought about the topsy–turvy hours that Chloe had to work at her job. 

“Linda, you don’t understand. If I don’t suffer a little, how can I get wealthy? I work hard to earn money. As long as I get the money, what does it matter if I have to work a little harder?“” 

Linda rolled her eyes. “Face the facts. Even if you were ignorant and incompetent, the money that Dad left us is more than enough for us to spend extravagantly for the rest of our lives. Why do you have to work so hard? Look at me! I’ve just been living a carefree life.” 

“Is this what you call carefree? You’re crazier than I am when you start working hard.” Chloe could not even imagine how Linda had managed to work overtime daily for a week while she was in Usna. Despite that, she also managed to attend different industry meetings. How had she done it? 

“Alright, you two can stop talking about that now. You’re both very hardworking,” Samson said. 

The next morning, Linda received messages from the two men. 

They informed her that they had made an appointment with their previous client.
