“I passed her room just now, and she said she was choosing a dress. I don’t know what’s going on.” Samson spread his hands and then took a sip of his coffee.

Linda laughed. “It seems that our Lexi is starting to appreciate beauty.”

“She’s almost three. It’s natural for her to start noticing how she looks,” Samson said.

“By the way, when are your parents coming back?” Linda asked.

Simon and Celine had said they would be in Novena for a week, but it had already been half a month. “They’ll probably be back soon. If they don’t return, there’ll never be an end to it.”

Samson never took much notice of what his parents were doing. They were shrewd and capable.

No matter where they were, they would be able to handle whatever happened. If he paid too much attention to them, it would only affect their mood.

“Lexi, you’re so beautiful today!” Linda complimented her exaggeratedly.

Lexi was shy at being praised and threw herself into Linda’s arms. “Do you think I’m pretty, Daddy?”

It was a loaded question, and Samson found her irresistible. “Of course. You’re beautiful, Lexi. You’ve always been beautiful.”

After they had a happy breakfast together as a family of three, Chloe finally woke up.

“Aunt Chloe, why do you wake up so late every day?”

Chloe looked sleepily at Lexi, who was looking up at her.

“Lexi, this is the first time I’ve stayed at your place.” Chloe didn’t remember waking up very late when they

were in Usna.

“Mommy says that only those who sleep and wake up early are good children!”

Chloe took Lexi’s hand and led her to the living room. “Where’s Mommy?”

“Daddy says Mommy’s already gone out because she has something important to do. I don’t know what kind of important thing it is, though.”

“I’ve got to go to work after breakfast too.” Chloe kissed Lexi’s soft little cheek. “I’ve got to work hard to earn money so I can buy you lots of jewelry in the future.”

Lexi kissed her back. “Okay!”

Out in the suburbs, there was a cafe which had risen in popularity recently.
