“What are you trying to do?” Hannah did not want to waste time with Linda, either. Her direct manner surprised Linda.

“Hannah, are you mistaken?” Linda asked.

Hannah still thought Linda was the pushover she had been in the past. 

It was true that in the past, Linda had been the kind of pushover who never fought back.
