Chapter 217
“Why are they inviting us?” Samson was confused.
Although Linda worked in the entertainment industry, she worked behind the scenes, and not before the camera. The same applied to Samson, who was the president of a media company.
“The director of this variety show is my university classmate. With our recent outings with Lexi lately, we haven’t been covering her face. So, people naturally uploaded pictures of us online after running into us.
“You know it’s all about creating buzz in this day and age. Since both of us, including Lexi, have a certain amount of hype online, my classmate wants to seize the opportunity and create a variety show. Of course, they’re inviting us because of the talk around us.
“With the existing buzz around us, it’d be a lot easier to promote the show.”
How could Linda not know what Jessie Sinclair, her university classmate, had in mind? They had been friends for many years, after all.
Back in Usna, when Linda wanted to return to the entertainment industry, Jessie had offered to help her out before. As such, when she received Jessie’s message, her first instinct was to return the favor. Her concern, however, lay in Samson’s opinion.
“What do you think?”
Samson understood her well enough to know that she would unhesitantly return the favor to those who had assisted her. Since the person was her university classmate, it meant that person had given her a helping hand during her return to the film industry.
“I do want to help her. She offered me a lot of help when I returned to this industry. I can’t be ungrateful to those who’ve supported me.
“Besides, we’re no longer hiding Lexi’s face from the public anymore. The variety show shouldn’t pose much harm to her. Plus, who wouldn’t want to make more friends, right? “At the same time, I can attract some traffic through this show and ensure people are talking about my upcoming projects. I can ask the veteran actors in the show to introduce me to some new talents.”
Linda was not only considering repaying the favor but also gaining benefits from this exchange. From a strategic point of view, she had no reason to refuse this opportunity. After some contemplation, Samson answered, “Lexi and I will do whatever you want. We’ll go on the show if you want us to, or don’t. It’s up to you.”
She gazed at him. “Oh, Samson. You don’t have to put my feelings first. If you don’t want to, we won’t.”
He stroked her head. “Like I said, I’ll support you in everything you do. I’m just fulfilling my promise. Now, don’t you worry, I’m all yours to use. It’s just that I can’t be there at all times due to work. You might have to bring that up to your friend.”
“Okay,” she said.
