“Are you sure it was Lindsey?” the words left me before I could stop them and Amelia raised a brow like I had asked her the most ridiculous question before answering.
“Yes,” she said slowly, dragging it out like I was stupid, “a thousand and one percent sure, I saw her with my own eyes. Lindsey Torres, blond, annoying, dramatic posture. That’s her.”
My jaw tightened, wonderful..absolutely fucking wonderful
As if Sophie wasn’t annoying enough on her own, now she had Lindsey sticking her nose into my business too. Though honestly, I shouldn’t have been surprised, Lindsey had hated me since freshman year, the feeling was mutual.
The girl had always had some weird obsession with competing with me, who was more popular, who got captain positions and who got invited to what party, it was exhausting and pathetic.
I thought back to cheer practice, the way she had stepped in front of Harper and kept running her mouth, looking so smug while doing it.
A bitter laugh almost escaped me, now it made sense. Sophie had been filling her head with bullshit, probably painting me as the big bad villain and Lindsey, being the idiot she was, had happily swallowed every word.
Pathetic
Both of them
Before I could ask anything else, the
Classroom door opened, Mrs. Hughes walked inside carrying a stack of papers.
“Alright,” she said immediately, clapping her hands once, “everyone to your seats,” groans echoed around the room but sheignored every single one of them.
“As much as I love your enthusiasm for socialising, we are doing an assessment,” she walked between the rows, dropping papers onto desks one by one.
I leaned back in my chair, already bored when she reached me, she paused just for a second, her eyes flickering to me then to the paper, before returning back to me but I didn’t bother reacting.
She placed it down anyway and moved on, once everyone had one, she returned to the front. “Let’s get started,” she clasped her hands together, “you have one hour.”
The room immediately filled with complaints
“One hour?”
“What?”
“That’s not enough time.”
Mrs. Hughes smiled. “It is if you studied,” the complaints double scratching and pages flipping.
I looked down at my paper, preparing myself for disappointment,
en the room shifted into reluctant silence with pen
My eyes scanned the page again, taking how familiar some of the questi es widens instead. Wait..I knew this.
are, they had been the same one Caelum and I
had treated a couple of time, till the extend that I could practically hear his voice, calm and patient as he geos through each questions.
I guess tutoring did have its peek after all

A small smile formed at the curve of my lips, as I shove the thoughts of Sophie aside, Lindsey as well. There was plenty of time to deal with those bitches later, right now, I had a test to finish.
And for once, It didn’t look like I was completely screwed
Minutes pass by as I carried on answering the questions I was confident in, and with in a blink of an eye, the hour had already pass by.
“Pens down,” Mrs. Hughes announced and the room erupted into noise again, some were filled with relief and some complaints.
I stood, rolling my shoulder slightly and grabbed my sheet, mybe I hadn’t completely failed this time and that alone felt like
a win.
My lips curved up to the side as I joined the line at the front, students shuffled forward, talking, laughing, dragging their damn feet like they had the time of the world.
Then out nowhere, I feel something slam into my side, hard.
“What the..” my paper slipped out of my hand and hit the floor and immediately my head snapped up, ready to rain some colourful words when my eyes landed on a boy, a nerdy built one.
And probably not anyone I actually wanted to kill
I take in the messy brown hair sticking in different directions, thick glasses sliding down his nose and sweater vest layered over a wrinkled shirt.
He looked familiar, then I remembered Mrs. Malakia’s class. He had been with the rest of his nerdy mates.
My brow raised up watching as his face went pale the second he saw me.
Oh my God.” he blurted, “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking, didn’t mean to..” he crouched immediately, practically shaking as he grabbed my paper from the floor.
“I’m really sorry,” he repeated quickly, “It was an accident. I swear.” Holding it out with both hands like I was going to explode over it.
Which, honestly, was debatable depending on the day
I took it without a word and he flinched anyway then nodded rapidly.
“I’m sorry,” he said again, quieter this time, before stepping back like distance could save him.
I stared at him for a second, then sighed. “Just..watch where you’re going.”
“Yes, sorry, of course. Sorry,” he almost tripped over himself leaving and I watched him go.
What was it with people today
Was there a sign on me that said please bump into me repeatedly
I moved forward in line again, irritation still sitting under my skin. At the front desk, I handed my paper to Mrs. Hughes, causing her to glance at it then at me.
“Miss Quinn,” I already knew what was coming, “I hope there will be improvement this time.”
I tilted my head slightly, a small smile tugged at my lips. “I make no promises.”
Her expression didn’t change, either did mine as I turned, walking out. The final bell had already gone, school was over.

The hallway was loud again, students flooding out. I was heading toward my locker when Kaia appeared beside me halfway there.
“Hey,” she said. “How did it go?”
“Somewhat…” I replied.
“Is that your version of good news or bad new, I can’t tell,” she snorted.
“In between,” she snorted again as we reached my locker.
I spun the dial, pulled it open, and started shoving things inside, telling her about what Amelia had told me and she listened with her arms folded to her chest.
When I finished, she raised a brow.
“How credible is anything Amelia says?” she asked, “we are talking about
A Bell here.”
I shut my locker a bit harder than necessary.”That’s what I thought too,” I said, “but I doubt she made up Sophie talking to Lindsey.”
Kaia tilted her head, nodding as I continued. “Lindsey had been
proof.”
a bitchy
lately more than usual. Cheer practice alone is
“True,” she hummed and there was a slight pause before she indsey into it?”
