Caclum’s kiss was rogue, tongue and teeth, pulling us harder together, filled with desperation and yearning.
His tongue connected with mine, fighting, begging for more taste, and when his hips jerked against mine, I moaned as the swell of him dug into my stomach until he lifted me up to wrap my legs around his waist and it hit that sweet spot having me crying.
He drives his hips further, pushing, rubbing, grinding as our lips moved with need so hot that the bare skin of his chest burned against my touch as my hands grazed up and down, feeling more of him, savouring the hard yet smooth skin that only seemed to blaze under my fingertips.
His hands cupped the sides of my face and pulled himself away from my lips like he was depriving himself of more and I let an unconscious whimper escape my lips at the loss of contact but stared deep into his eyes.
“Is there something going on,” he whispered gently, the room was much darker than I had expected, almost completely swallowed by shadows, with the only source of light coming from the thin golden beams that slipped through the gaps at the bottom and sides of the curtains.
“No, why would you ask that.” I assured.
“Are you sure. You barely gave me any attention and seemed to be in a world of your own,” His thumbs tenderly stroked my cheeks.
“It’s nothing, honestly.”
“Delilah..”
“It really is nothing.
He looks at me for a second before kisskimg me again, lightly but still with hunger to feed his craving. “I want you.” Flutters exploded around my body and collected in tingles at my lower region, this time it was my turn to kiss him. “You’re not fucking me in a changing room.”
He kissed me again. “I know but I want to.” He hoisted me up higher, so I wrapped around him like a koala.
Our lips lingered closely together. “Later.” I whispered against them and he lets out a frustration groaned before setting me down despite the fact I kind of wanted to cling on for longer.
I held a smile to myself as I adjusted the dress I had on, and before I could walk out, he grabbed my hand.
“Are you sure you’re alright,” It was the pure concern that leaked through his tone that caused my throat to tighten up.
“Yeah.” I managed to get out but he still didn’t look happy but let me go.
Kaia was back and waiting out there for me, thankfully there was no sight of Jace and Elias, but the smirk on her face also made me want to hide.
“He needed help.”
“Sure,” I rolled my eyes, even when my heart was beating faster and faster, “you might want to fix your hair though. I rushed my fingers through the tangles I could only imagine Caelum had left behind.
“Come on,” Kaia called, clapping her hands together. “We’ve got to go,” I nodded, tearing my attention away from the dressing rooms just as the green curtain slid open and he stepped out once more.
My breath caught despite myself even though he had put on the cloth he had had came with, but I still couldn’t control my

Quicking looking away before Kaia could catch the expression on my face, but unfortunately when I risked another glance, I found her already looking at me, with one eyebrow slowly arching and a knowing smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
Immediately looked anywhere but her, thankfully, she let it slide, though the amused huff she let out told me she hadn’t missed a thing.
We made our way out of the thrift store, Jace and Elias were already waiting near the mall entrance, well, Elias was, while Jace stood a few feet away with his phone pressed against his ear.
His brows were drawn together, his free hand rubbing the back of his neck as he paced once before stopping and even from where I stood. I could tell something was wrong. His voice was lower than usual, whatever was being said on the other end clearly wasn’t good.
Tapping lightly on Kaia’s shoulder. I walked past her and she glanced at me before following my line of sight, giving a small nod and by the time I reached him, he had already ended the call.
Without thinking, I reached out and gently wrapped my fingers around his hand and he looked down before his gaze lifted to mine, “what’s wrong?” I asked, my brows knitting together.
For a moment, he just looked at me, then sighed. “My mom.”
Understanding settled over me almost instantly.
I gave his hand a reassuring squeeze before letting it go. “Go,” their was a slight hesitation in his stance. “Jace, go.”
His shoulders slumped slightly, then nodded. “Yeah, okay,” he turned and hurried toward the parking lot.
S
“Keep me updated,” I called after him, whether he heard me or not, I couldn’t tell and within seconds, he had disappeared outside.
A moment later, Kaia and Caelum caught up to us and she looked between the empty doorway and me. “What was that about?”
“He had to leave,” I answered, “family emergency.”
Concern flashed across her face before she nodded. “Oh… shit,” she glanced toward the parking lot, “how exactly are we getting to our next destination now?”
My eyes widened, right. Jace had driven us
“We left everything in his car too,” Elias pointed out, scratching the back of his head. A beat of silence followed then he shrugged, “we could always grab a cab.”
“I think so too,” Kaia said after a moment of thought before clapping her hands together, “Okay, since we’re one person down, let’s skip straight to the last, but certainly not the least part of today.” A grin spread across her face. “I’m going to book
us a cab.”
It took nearly thirty minutes before one finally arrived, Elias claimed the front passenger seat while the three of us squeezed into the back. Kaia rattled off the address to the driver, and with a nod, he pulled away from the curb.
The city slowly drifted past the windows, the shopping centers became quieter neighborhoods, turning to long stretches of open road as towering buildings gave way to fields before those too disappeared behind rows of increasingly taller trees.
The deeper we drove, the denser the woods became I glanced over at Kaia. “Where exactly are we going?”

Elias twisted around in his seat to look at her. “Yeah,” he agreed, a bit teasingly, “should we be concerned?”
She didn’t even spare him a glance. “No.”
“I mean,” he looked at me with mock concern, “If we’re found buried somewhere out here, I just want everyone to know I never trusted her.”
I gasped, playing along. “Wait, are we being kidnapped?”
She groaned. “Would both of you stop saying that?” then pointed toward the driver, “you’re going to make the poor man think I’m some kind of psychopath.”-
The driver chuckled under his breath, shaking his head. “I was starting to wonder.”
“See?” Kaia exclaimed, throwing her hands into the air, “now I’ve been exposed.”
“You did it to yourself.” Elias said with a grin and I couldn’t help laughing.
Beside me. I caught movement from the corner of my eye causing me to turn slightly, finding Caelum already looking at me. There was no teasing in his expression, only the smallest smile resting on his lips as he quietly watched me laugh with the others.
This made my heartbeat stumble and I looked away, pretending to become very interested in the passing trees outside the window
It wasn’t that I minded his stare, but every time I looked back, he was still looking at me, and it was becoming increasingly difficult not to squirm under the weight of his quiet attention.
the road narrowed into a winding dirt path, with trees arched overhead, their branches weaving together until they formed a leafy tunnel around us,the cab continued forward, tires crunching softly over gravel then the forest suddenly opened.

A breathtaking lake stretched before us, its surface glowing with streaks of orange, pink and gold as the setting sun melted into the horizon. nestled along the shoreline stood a cozy cedar cabin with a wide wooden porch overlooking the lake.
the cab rolled to a gentle stop and for a second I forgot to breathe. I climbed out slowly, unable to tear my eyes away from the view before me.
“Wow,” It was the only word my brain seemed capable of producing.
Behind me, Elias paid the driver while Kaia jumped out of the cab, throwing both arms dramatically into the air.
“Welcome,” she announced with a smile, “to Whispering Pines Cabin!”
“It’s beautiful,” the words slipped out before I could stop them.
“I know, right?” she beamed, clearly pleased with my reaction, “my uncle owns this place,” spreading her arms toward the cabin as if she was presenting a five star resort. “I literally begged him to let me bring you guys here for the night, so come on!”
Without a second thought, she reached over and grabbed Elias’s hand, dragging him toward the porch despite his exaggerated complaints.
“Hey!”
