“Also,” Kaia added, turning toward the hallway, “there should be some extra clothes around here, my uncle’s sons are in their twenties, and the last time they stayed here, they left a bunch of stuff behind. So Caelum and Elias can change into something more comfortable.”

She looked between the two of them. “Unless you both want to sleep in whatever you’re wearing.”

Elias immediately shook his head. “No, thank you.”

She smiled proudly, as if she had won some kind of argument. “Exactly,” then she turned toward me, “and I’ll find something for us too.”

I nodded. “Sounds good.”

“Okay, so,” she clapped her hands together, “let’s pick rooms, freshen up, and meet back here in an hour. The food ordered should be here by then.”

Everyone agreed as we split up, heading down the hallway. I took the first door on the left, while Kaia claimed the room right beside mine. I glanced back just in time to see Caelum about to walk toward the remaining room, except Elias beat him to it.

“Mine.” Elias announced, opening the door before he could reach it.He stopped, staring at him, and getting simply shrugged. “First come, first served.”

I had to bite back a laugh when he looked like he wanted to argue but decided against it as he walked further down the hallway and took another room on the right.

Before stepping inside, his gaze lifted and for a second, our eyes met, neither of us said anything. then I gave him a small smile before finally turning toward my own room

The second I opened the door, I stopped, the room was cozy, just like the rest of the cabin. A large bed sat against the wall, covered with a thick cream blanket and several soft pillows,, with a small lamp glowed beside the nightstand, casting a warm light over the wooden furniture and the window across from the bed gave a perfect view of the lake, now painted with the last traces of sunset.

But honestly the bed was the only thing I cared about

I dropped my bag beside the door and walked straight toward it, and the moment my body hit the mattress,, I let out a long sigh. I stayed there for a while, staring at the ceiling, my hand moved to my chest, gently tapping against it.

My heart had been doing entirely too much today

Before I could get lost in my thoughts, a knock filled the room, the door opening slightly.

“Don’t worry, it’s just me.” Kaia walked in carrying a folded pile of clothes, tossing them onto the bed beside me.. “comfortable clothes.”

I sat up, looking down at the shorts and top she had brought. “Thanks.”

She leaned against the doorway, studying me, then a slow grin appeared. “So….”

Narrowing my eyes. “No.”

“I didn’t even say anything.”

“You were about to.”

She laughed. “Fine. I was just going to say, looks like someone is finally getting all cozy with Caelum.”

I immediately grabbed a pillow and threw it at her. “There is not going to be any coziness.”

She caught it easily, laughing. “Please, I know what I saw. And I’m willing to bet a finger that boy wants you, badly.”

I grabbed another pillow. “Get out,” she laughed harder as she backed toward the door.

“Okay, okay. I’m leaving.”

“Good.”

“But I’m just saying…”

“Kaia,” she held her hands up, “leaving,” still laughing, she closed the door behind her.

Shaking my head, though the smile remained on my face as I reached, grabbing my phone from my bag, and the smile faded slightly when I remembered Jace leaving earlier.

Opening our messages and typed. ‘how’s your mom’

It didn’t take long before his reply came. ‘She’s okay now, It was just a scare.

Relief immediately washed over me and I let out a breath I didn’t realize I had been holding ‘glad to hear that. Let me know if you need anything, okay, I’m only a text or call away.

I stared at the message for a moment before sending it, hopefully he knew he didn’t have to deal with everything alone.

Setting my phone down on the bed, my eyes drifting to the folded clothes Kaia had left for me, staring at them for a mament, debating whether I should freshen up now or later.

The bed looked incredibly inviting, but I already knew myself. If I laid down now, I wouldn’t be getting back up.

With a sigh. I grabbed the clothes and headed into the bathroom and after a quick shower later, I stepped back into my room feeling much lighter then changed into the comfortable, a soft oversized t shirt and a pair of lounge shorts that were short enough to be comfortable but still covered my ass.

After brushing through my hair, I twisted it into a messy bun, letting a few loose strands fall around my face before slipping on a pair of fluffy socks.

Satisfied, I headed downstairs, the smell of pizza greeted me before I even reached the living room.

Several pizza boxes were already spread across the coffee table alongside bottles of soda.

“There you are,” Kaia called. “Come sit,” I smiled and dropped onto the couch beside her, pulling the blanket over my legs.

“So…” Elias grabbed a slice of pizza. “What are we watching?”

“Horror,” she answered.

“No”

“Why not?”

“I’d like to sleep tonight.” rolling her eyes, “comedy?”

“Too predictable”

Carlum looked up from his pizza “Animated?”

Kaia snapped her fingers. “I like that.”

“Same,” I agreed.

Elias sighed a bit dramatic. “I’ve been outvoted.”

The movie was on within minutes, Caelum settled into one of the single armchairs while Elias claimed the other.

We ate, laughed at the occasional scene, stole slices from one another’s pizza boxes, and before any of us realized it hours. had passed with Kaia head flopped onto my shoulder, fast asleep.

The movie was over, and we were all making our way up, with Elias reaching for Kaia. “I’ll get her,” I followed them upstairs to make sure she was tucked in properly before quietly pulling the blanket over her.

Once we stepped back into the hallway, I gently closed the bedroom door.

Elias stretched, another yawn escaping him. “I’m calling it a night.”

I smiled. “Good night, Elias.”

“Night.” he disappeared into his room, leaving the hallway peaceful once more.

The hallway fell quiet, and now..It was just the two of us

Caelum stood a few feet away, his hands tucked into the pockets of the lounge pants Kaia had found for him, the dark shirt hugged him far better than the oversized clothes he normally wore, and for one dangerous second, my eyes lingered a little too long before finding his face again.

He was already looking at me, and therewas something in the air, something heavy, neither of us spoke as hislips parted slightly, like he wanted to say something. Instead, a small smile found its way onto his face.

“Good night, Delilah.”

I smiled back. “Good night, Caelum.” he gave a small nod before turning and walking toward his room and my brows drew together, for some reason, it felt like there had been something else he wanted to say.

Shaking the thought away. I slipped into my room and quietly closed the door behind me. I’d barely taken three steps when I heard a knock, causing me to frown.

Turning around. I opened the door for find Caelum standing there.

Before I could get a single word out, “What..” his hand gently cupped my cheek as he stepped forward, his lips found mine.

The rest of my sentence disappeared and for a heartbeat, I froze, then slowly melted into the kiss. It was warm, hesitant for only a moment before growing more certain, more earnest, my fingers instinctively curled around the front of his shirt as I kissed him back.. my heart pounding wildly against my ribs as time seemed to blur around us until the rest of the world faded into silence.

When we finally pulled apart, we were both a little breathless. I blinked up at him before feeling something cool brushimg against my collarbone.

My fingers instinctively reached for it, “Caelum..” I muttered, looking down at the delicate silver necklace rested against my skin, a small crescent moon pendant hung from the chain, with a tiny blue stone nestled beside it that caught the warm light from the bedside lamp.

I stared at it in surprise

He rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly looking far more nervous than I’d ever seen him.

“I… wasn’t really sure what to get you,” he admitted quietly. “I figured you’ve probably received better gifts than..” his words disappeared as I leaned forward and kissed him again.

It was brief, just enough to silence every doubt he’d been about to voice. When I pulled back, I smiled before looking down at the necklace once more.

“I love it.”

His shoulders relaxed ever so slightly. “You..do?”

I nodded. “I really do.”

A shy smile spread across his face, “Are you sure?” he asked. “You don’t have to pretend if you don’t..”

This time, I didn’t let him finish. Grabbing the front of his shirt, I gave it a gentle tug, pulling him over the threshold and into my room, shutting the door as gently as I could, making sure to lock it. Then turned to look at him, before pushing him backwards till he landed on the bed, and without waiting for him to say anything or get out of his shock. I climbed ontop of him.

“I mean it when I say I love it. I really do, so stop fretting.” I say softly as he sits up using his elbow, my finger caressing his jawline. noticing how his eyes switched between my lips and eyes.

Taking the initiative. I leaned in first, as my lips found his jawline, kissing its way from his neck to his chest as I slowly unbutton his shirt.

Ny lips moving from his chest, going down to his abs, placing soft gentle kisses on them. knowing I was the only one lucky enough to get to see how incredibly fucking hot he was.
