“I think they’d be in good hands with you,” I looked at him, slightly caught off guard by how serious he sounded, then I smiled.

“And if your reckless ideas keep happening, I’ll probably need to start carrying emergency money for bail.”

His lips twitches again, “Reckless ideas?”

Raising an eyebrow. “You know exactly what I’m talking about.”

“I prefer adventurous.”

“Of course you do,” a grin spread across his face.

“I’ve never heard someone describe me as reckless and still make it sound like a compliment.”

“Oh, don’t get used to it,” I tried to hide my smile, but failed.

After a few minutes later, our food arrived and the moment my plate was placed in front of me, my mouth watered.

Caelum had ordered a huge steak sandwich with a side. I twirled some pasta around my fork, watching the steam disappear before taking a bite.. “You know, after today, you might have officially become the most chaotic person I know.”

He pretends to lookoffended. “Me?”

“Yes, you.”

Shaking his head. “I was helping preserve history

“You broke into a gallery.”

“Artifact chamber,” I narrowed my eyes.

“That is the same thing,” his smile grew.

“Agree to disagree,” I laughed and took another bite of my sandwich.

“Still,” I said after swallowing, “thank you.”

Caelum looked up at me, his eyebrows slightly furrowing like he didn’t understand why I was thanking him, “For what?”

“For taking me there,” my fingers traced the edge of my cup.

“I know it was crazy, and probably one of the worst decisions we’ve ever made, but..” smiled softly, “I loved it.”

Something softened in his expression, and a faint blush appeared along his cheeks before he looked away, pretending to focus on his food, “I’m glad.”

The simplicity of his answer made my chest feel strangely warm. “Maybe we should go again someday.”

His eyes lifted back to mine. “Again?”

“Yeah.” I nodded, “not to sneak around or almost get arrested this time,” a small laugh escaped him.

“That would probably be a good idea.”

“But just to explore, there were so many things in there I didn’t even get to see properly.”

Caelum seemed genuinely surprised. “You would actually want to go back?”

“Of course,” I shrugged, “It was interesting,” I took another bite before continuing, “besides, you can tell me more about those paintings and their stories.”

The smile that appeared on his face immediately gave him away, he liked that idea, a lot.

“You really want to hear more?”

“Yes.”

“Even the long ones?”

“Especially the long ones,” he laughed quietly and reached for his drink.

“You’re strange.”

I pointed a fry at him, “Says the person who breaks into forgotten galleries sections.”

“Artifact chambers,” I rolled my eyes.

“Whatever helps you sleep at night,” his laughter filled the booth, and for a moment, everything felt easy.

Normal.

Like we weren’t two people who had spent the last few hours running from trouble.

Then I noticed his plate, more specifically, the fries. My eyes followed it before I could stop myself.

Caelum noticed as well. “You look like you want to steal my food.”

I immediately looked away. “I do not.
