For the sake of her son, Eleanor couldn't bring herself to follow Bernard into the afterlife. Instead, she aged overnight, her once youthfully smooth face now etched with lines of sorrow, her striking eyes hollow, devoid of any spark.

She had said, being a mother meant she couldn't just do as she pleased anymore. So, at Bernard's graveside, she asked him to wait for her until their son got married. Then, she would join him.
