Upon receiving the news of Eleanor's passing, Robin stood frozen for a long moment before he finally made his way to her final resting place to bid her farewell. As the crowd dispersed, he lingered by her gravestone, touching it tenderly, a symbol of his unwavering affection.
"Eleanor," he whispered.
Leaning on her headstone, Robin slowly crouched down, lifting his eyes—no longer those of a young man—to gaze upon the photo of the woman who had captured his heart so completely.
"Who would've thought?" he mused, a smirk playing on his lips. "Turns out, when I fall, I fall hard. So deeply, in fact, that no one else could ever catch my eye. Makes you wonder, Eleanor, was I really any less than Bernard?"
The only response was the sound of birds flitting through the quiet cemetery, leaving behind a silence that mirrored the love he had kept buried in his heart for years—a love that could only be confessed in the solitude of her grave.
Each person carries their regrets, and Robin's was that Eleanor died never knowing there was a fool, miles away, who cherished the flicker of love they once shared, guarding it silently from afar.
But what was the point in dwelling on it now? She would never know. Robin sat by her grave for a long time, wrestling with his thoughts until he realized he had no answers to find. He rose to leave, his life's focus never truly on love but on his career, leading the Spencer family to become a global powerhouse, his legacy discussed even decades later as the man who never married.
Meanwhile, in B City, Garett Falsey was the last to hear the news. Sitting at his desk, he stared at the message from Sigrid Laurence, sinking into a profound silence.

Loved the story, many times caught in so much actually crying with the situation. Wish had more chapters to a better ending....
It's weird that the story went from narrative to slang use. Good story so far though...
